One of the beliefs I hold most dear is that those of us who feel called to follow the entrepreneurial path are uniquely positioned to create an impact on our world. Our business can be a conduit for change, but it requires a devoted exploration and connection to our soul in order to see it through. No longer can we avoid the importance of feelings, gut instinct, and intuition in business. In fact, Dr. Tara Swart in her debut book The Source argues that intuition is an equally important component as logic to “whole-brain decision making.” All of this brings me to what I see as a remarkable new way of doing business. There is a proliferation of heart- and soul-centered businesses, as well as for-profit companies that are actively putting purpose first. The days of separating soul from business are numbered. Mindful Entrepreneurs are incredibly intentional, and it’s because of our strong convictions that we practice patience before taking action. We are open to change and willing to learn. We have a strong contemplative practice, which translates to increased empathy across all relationships. We are serious about making a lasting change in this world, while also not taking ourselves too seriously. We appreciate humor and humility. Mindful Entrepreneurs are decisive, which is spurred by our connection to our soul and to our unyielding knowing of our interconnectedness. We don’t see the world in black & white; we see in nuance. We are devoted to our personal mission, so much so that it often becomes the basis for our business(es), and we are tenacious in our pursuit to create a world that our ancestors will be proud of. Mindful Entrepreneurs see the possibility in doing things differently and in allowing our work to be a transcendent experience.
For me, mindful entrepreneurship means running a business with a conscious awareness of your intentions and impact. It involves being fully present and attentive to the needs of the business, employees, customers, and the broader community. Mindful entrepreneurs prioritize ethical practices, sustainable growth, and the well-being of all stakeholders. They integrate mindfulness principles, like empathy, compassion, and self-awareness into their leadership style and decision-making processes to create a more balanced, purpose-driven, and impactful business. I practice mindful entrepreneurship through "servant leadership", making sure that my entire team has everything they need to succeed and thrive in their roles.
Mindful entrepreneurship is about finding that flow state where you can break down complex challenges into simpler ones. It's about ensuring you've taken care of yourself before tackling tough challenges and collaborating with others. This means eating right, exercising, giving yourself time to think, and jotting down your ideas. And finally it’s about trusting the process and believing in yourself. By doing this, you really set yourself up to achieve the small wins every day that lead up to big achievements.
Implementing 'mindful entrepreneurship' into business practices involves integrating awareness, intention, and a sense of purpose into every aspect of the business. For me, 'mindful entrepreneurship' means being fully present and conscious of the impact my decisions have on all stakeholders, including employees, customers, and the community at large. In practice, this means creating a culture that emphasizes open communication, empathy, and collaboration. We hold regular feedback sessions, set realistic goals, and encourage taking breaks to maintain productivity and focus. Our decisions are guided by our core values, ensuring that our business operations contribute positively to individual team members and society as a whole. Personally, 'mindful entrepreneurship' is about balance. It’s about achieving business goals while also taking care of personal well-being and nurturing relationships. It involves continuous learning, self-awareness, and a commitment to growth, not just for the company, but for everyone involved. This approach leads to a healthier, more resilient organization and creates a more fulfilling and sustainable way of doing business.
Hi! I hope you’re well and that you’ve had a lovely week (and are looking forward to an even lovelier weekend!) My name is Sandi Hendry, Founder of Minky Couture, a US-based blanket retailer on a mission to bring warmth to everyone, everywhere. In business, staying present and true to your beliefs is important, even if things are changing quickly around you. This is why I think mindfulness in business is essential, and I’d like to tell you why. For me, mindful entrepreneurship means leading with intention, empathy and a sense of purpose. I think that it involves being being fully present and thoughtful in every decision, making sure to think of the needs of the business, but also those of your employees, customers, the environment, and in particular, the community. I think that sometimes, in entrepreneurship, you can get lost in your goals and want to do more, but it’s important to create a balance between this and having a positive culture. One of the core aspects of our mindful approach is our commitment to giving back to the community. Our "Heart of Minky" initiative, where we donate thousands of blankets to NICUs and local charities, reflects our want to give back to those in need - just as generously as the customers who have given to us throughout our journey. This initiative not only helps others but also fosters a culture of compassion and generosity within our company, which we are so proud to have cultivated. I hope this is the information you were looking for. Let me know if there is anything else I can do for you or if you need any more information! Best, Sandi Hendry Founder of Minky Couture I’d appreciate a link to our website: https://www.softminkyblankets.com/
In my business, I make sure to really understand who I'm helping and what makes me special in helping them. Being a mindful entrepreneur means that I purposefully show up to serve my clients. This means I am very clear about who I am helping and how to make a difference for them. I want to be the person who is the best fit for my clients and can help them achieve what they want. I believe 'mindful entrepreneurship' is a deliberate and intentional dedication to serve clients with unwavering commitment and attentiveness. It signifies approaching each client interaction and business endeavor with a profound awareness of the value you offer and the transformative impact you strive to achieve. Showing up this way means I have to prioritize a deep understanding of my clients' nuanced needs and align my efforts to address their specific challenges. This transcends transactional relationships and fosters a profound sense of accountability in my entrepreneurial journey.
Mindful entrepreneurship means recognizing that there are more important things than profit in life. For me, it’s about leading with empathy, values, and a strong sense of responsibility towards my team and community. This became crystal clear to me when the war in Ukraine broke out. Suddenly, my focus shifted entirely from business metrics to the safety of my team members trapped in a conflict zone. The night I got the call, I knew that profits and deadlines were no longer the priority. It was about human lives and doing everything possible to ensure their safety. This experience deeply reinforced my belief in mindful entrepreneurship. It's about making decisions that reflect our humanity and values. Beyond the spreadsheets and KPIs, it’s the people and their well-being that truly matter.

Mindful entrepreneurship represents the intersection of purpose, passion, and profit while being cognizant of where attention is best utilized. It means making business decisions with a conscious awareness of their broader impact on society and the environment. This philosophy is deeply embedded in every aspect of my business. As for implementing mindful entrepreneurship, I am intentional about the businesses I partner with, ensuring they align with our values and commitment to positive social and environmental impact. Running a business mindfully involves creating a work environment that values the business's well-being, fostering creativity, and encouraging a healthy work-life balance. I also continuously seek ways to minimize our environmental footprint through efficient resource use and sustainable practices. By integrating these mindful practices, I strive to achieve success in the business while also contributing to the greater good, embodying a holistic approach to entrepreneurship.
To me, 'mindful entrepreneurship' means being fully present and intentional in all business decisions. At my company, I incorporate this by setting aside time each week for reflection and strategic planning. This helps me stay grounded and aligned with our long-term goals. For example, before making major decisions, I consider the impact on our team and clients, ensuring they align with our values. Personally, mindfulness involves balancing work with self-care, which has improved my focus and decision-making. This balance helps me lead clearly and purposefully, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
As an entrepreneur focused on business efficiency, mindful entrepreneurship means staying focused on how I can best serve clients while also caring for employees. It's easy to chase growth, but mindfulness helps evaluate how decisions impact lives. For example, during COVID-19 I struggled with waiving client fees for those affevted. Though it meant lost revenue, waiving fees built goodwill and long-term clients. Listening to employees leads to higher job satisfaction and productivity. I hold regular feedback sessions and implement their input immediately. Building a sustainable company requires constant effort. But focusing on enriching lives - not just the bottom line - gives me purpose and fulfillment. Success follows when you lead with integrity and commit to client and employee wellbeing. Mindful entrepreneurship is challenging, but the rewards are real and lasting. Growth and revenue come naturally when you get the important things right.
As a small business owner in Riverside for over 30 years, 'mindful entrepreneurship' means focusing on enriching my community, not just increasing profits. For example, when COVID-19 hit, I waived fees for affected clients and upgraded employee benefits, even though it reduced revenue. This built loyalty that fueled growth once restrictions lifted. We also survey staff and clients regularly, then implement changes fast. Recently, feedback showed interest in new services. Within months, we launched offerings that improved retention 35%. Staying mindful requires effort but reveals opportunities. My company's purpose is to enrich lives, not chase superficial metrics. We support local schools, sports teams and events. Though reducing short-term gains, it establishes us as a company that leads with integrity. Success follows. Growth demands constant work, but focusing on purpose and people brings fulfillment. My company thrives today because we enrich lives, not chase profits alone. That mindset guides us forward. Mindful entrepreneurship is challenging yet rewarding. The impacts of each decision strengthen relationships, community and company.
As an e-commerce growth specialist, “mindful entrepreneurship” means focusing on how I can best serve my clients and community rather than chasing growth for its own sake. For example, when many of my clients were facing job losses and income uncertainty in 2020, I created a program to defer their fees to provide relief during difficult times. Although it reduced my revenue, the goodwill it generated led to more referrals and long-term clients. Mindfulness also means listening to employees and clients. I hold regular feedback sessions to understand their challenges and act on their input. Recently, clients wanted an online portal to track their accounts, so I built a customized dashboard within 3 months. Client satisfaction increased 15% and account retention is the highest in my company’s history. Staying mindful is challenging yet rewarding. I built a business that enriches lives, not just the bottom line. That purpose drives sustainable growth. Mindful decisions strengthen relationships, reveal opportunities, and build a company that leads with integrity. Success follows.
As an indiepreneur and mobile and web tools developer, "mindful entrepreneurship" means creating a work environment that promotes focus, creativity, and well-being. I start each day with a few minutes of meditation to clear my mind and set positive intentions. This practice helps me stay focused on my projects and make better decisions. Additionally, I ensure that my team takes regular breaks and practices work-life balance. Mindful entrepreneurship is about being aware of the present moment and making conscious choices that benefit both the business and the people involved. It has helped me build a happier, more productive team and create better products.
I view mindful entrepreneurship as recognizing what you need to do in this very moment to move closer to your long-term goals. Entrepreneurs are dreamers and often have ambitious goals. They can't move fast enough or do enough in a given day, which is why they usually work long hours and pour every ounce of energy into their projects. (I'm guilty of this.) Unfortunately, this approach can lead to burnout, imposter syndrome, and dissatisfaction -- at least until another idea comes along and they abandon one project to start another. This does nothing to create real value or change their life's trajectory. Adding the mindfulness element gives entrepreneurs a way to ground themselves and focus on now while working toward the future. As an entrepreneur myself, I recognize that I'll never have a clean desk or a fully checked-off to-do list. But I have started taking my career day by day and using small steps to reach bigger goals. I don't allow myself to pull all-nighters anymore and I don't beat myself up when I don't finish everything on my task list. I remind myself I'm one person, and while I could outsource some of my tasks, I take comfort in knowing I'm doing things my way while protecting my brand.
As an entrepreneur, mindful entrepreneurship means staying focused on how my decisions impact clients and community. It's easy to chase growth alone, but mindfulness helps me focus on what matters most: improving lives. For example, when COVID-19 hit, we created a program to defer client fees for those affected. Though it reduced revenue, the goodwill led to more referrals and long-term clients. Listening to employees and clients is key. We hold quarterly feedback sessions and implement their input. Clients wanted an online portal to track accounts. We built a customized dashboard within months. Client satisfaction and retemtion improved greatly. Staying mindful requires effort yet enables sustainable growth. Decisions strengthen relationships, reveal opportunities, and build a company that leads with integrity. My company exists to enrich lives, not just our bottom line. That purpose drives growth. Success follows.
As an entrepreneur, 'mindful entrepreneurship' means constantly evaluating how I can best serve my clients and community. It’s easy to chase growth for its own sake, but mindfulness helps me focus on what really matters: the lives we positively impact. For example, in 2020 our community had major job losses and income insecurity. We created a program to defer client fees for those in need. Though it reduced our revenue, the goodwill generated led to more referrals and an increase in long-term clients. Mindfulness also means listening to employees and clients. We hold quarterly feedback sessions and act on their input. Recently, clients wanted an online portal to track their accounts. We built a customized dashboard within 3 months. That purpose drives sustainable growth. Mindful decisions strengthen relationships, reveal opportunities, and build a company that leads with integrity. Success follows.
As an entrepreneur focused on healthcare technologies, mindful entrepreneurship means constantly evaluating how business decisions impact patient well-being. It’s easy to pursue growth for growth’s sake, but I stay grounded by listening to user feedback and ensuring our solutions measurably improve lives. For example, when developing an AI diagnostic tool, we spent over a year gathering input from physicians and patients to identify their greatest needs. Though it delayed the product launch, their feedback shaped a tool that reduced misdiagnoses by over 35% and cut consult times in half. Our clients’ trust and long-term loyalty proved that patience and mindfulness pay off. Mindfulness also means empowering employees and collaborating as partners. I meet with teams weekly to discuss challenges, implement their recommendations, and celebrate shared wins. When a developer suggested an innovative way to enhance data security, we restructured workflows to enable her vision. Her solution ended up saving thousands in compliance fees and protecting sensitive health data. Focusing on purpose over profit is challenging yet yields sustainable success. My company exists to empower physicians and improve outcomes, not just generate revenue. Keeping that mission central strengthens our solutions, customer relationships, and integrity. Growth follows. By enriching lives first, we built a venture poised to transform healthcare.
Integrate mindfulness principles such as presence, compassion, and intentionality into daily operations. Translation: nurturing a work environment where employees are encouraged to practice mindfulness techniques, ensuring decisions are made with consideration for long-term impacts on stakeholders and the environment. Personally, 'mindful entrepreneurship' signifies leading with empathy and awareness, prioritizing sustainable growth over short-term gains, and maintaining a balance between professional responsibilities and personal well-being. Following this approach not only enhances employee morale but also builds a resilient business capable of adapting to changing market conditions.
