Work to identify what the biggest sources of frustration are for the nurses. Once you have identified a key problem, have a staff meeting or unit council meeting to discuss why this is a source of frustration. Work as a a team to identify some possible interventions that could help to make it easier and less stressful. Put a plan in place and make sure that all staff are aware of the plan. Stay with it until the problem has been solved or at least becomes more manageable. Basically, be solution-oriented in your leadership style and elicit the buy-in of your staff by getting them involved in identifying issues and making improvements.
