Applying the Chiropractic Principles of Subluxation Correction outperforms "pain relief" based care in every case because Chiropractic is a vitalistic approach to health, working with the Innate Intelligence of the body to improve function and restore homeostasis. Subluxation correction addresses the cause of neurological dysfunction - the disconnect between brain and body, allowing the disregulation to occur. Symptoms, pain included, are the "effect" of a malfunctioning system. By solely addressing the symptom (effect), and not correcting the Subluxation (Cause), most chiropractic patients never experience long term improvement in health and function. When chiropractic adjustments are only applied if, when and where there is a Subluxation, most patients experience improvements in function (health), as well as relief from their pain (effects). There is a limitation of matter however. If a person has allowed their spine to degenerate, due to chronic, un-corrected subluxations, then chiropractic adjustments will have a limited effect on both spinal alignment as well as systemic function.
