Why are you passionate about museums?

I am passionate about museums because they serve as a gateway to understanding the world through diverse perspectives. Art, in particular, resonates deeply with me because it is a personal reflection of our own experiences, beautifully interpreted through someone else's creativity. Walking through a museum, I find myself drawn to pieces that evoke emotion and spark connections, reminding me of the universal yet unique human journey. I cannot remember my first experience at a museum. Not because it wasn't memorable, but because it was ingrained into my life since a very young age. As someone who loves history and art, marrying the two together is the perfect environment. Museums have the ability to share parts of history through many mediums and what stands out to me is the great conversation of Interpretation. Everyone, regardless if they care about the items displayed or not, will leave the museum with a thought unique to the item, the museum itself or the written dialogue next to the items. What is happening in museums is a shared experience between strangers, who may or may not be thinking or feeling the same thing. I love Museums because they spark inspiration and conversation and provide a little bit of extra educational facts that you may not always know!

I am extremely passionate about museums, because I believe they teach us to treat each other, our objects, our histories, and our own perspectives with reverence. Museums are also places that are quite peaceful and restful, wherein the only thing asked of the observer is to be still, be somewhat quiet, and to be observant. Public spaces that do not require a tremendous amount of money to occupy said space are in critical danger in our modern society (libraries, community centers, etc. are examples of these "no cost" third spaces that are actively losing funding and support). By supporting museums, we are not only supporting artists and artistry, but also supporting the public demand for third spaces, free/inexpensive spaces, and quiet social spaces. To me, museums are heaven.

I love the diversity of media, including painting, sculpture, performance art, and digital installations. I also find inspiration in the Turbine hall which really pushes the boundaries of art.
