UBI + PAYD + PHYD One technique I've applied to personalise insurance offerings using technology is telematics insurance. This involves installing devices and motion sensors in vehicles to track driving behaviours, such as speed, location, mileage, driving distance, breaks applied, crash incidents and other travel data. The data collected is regularly transmitted via mobile app and then analysed to create tailored insurance plans. Insights gathered improve risk management and overall safety by notifying authorities in case of a major accident. Telematics insurance structure utilises a combination of usage-based insurance (UBI), pay-how-you-drive (PHYD) and pay-as-you-drive (PAYD) business models. With this insurance model, I could offer my clients up to 25% lower rates as a reward for being a responsible driver. All data gathered further assists in implementing new features as well as tuning the existing ones for better performance.
