Volunteering allowed me the chance to help those in need without expecting anything in return. This helped me become more open-minded, patient and willing to continue helping without needing a reward. When you get to see how your volunteer efforts can help those in need, that result alone was enough for me to see the benefit without needing a physical payment. After completing a few different volunteering placements I noticed I had more patience, was more open-minded and generally able to spot when someone may need help more often which I believe have made me a better person in my professional and personal life due to being more understanding of those experiencing hardships or those on a different life path to me. Volunteering shows that you are capable of helping others selflessly and that's a trait I believe everyone should try at least once. The feeling of helping people and participating in a positive way is unmatched.
