In a case I worked on, a young mother was seriously hurt in a car accident caused by a drunk driver. The driver had been caught DUI before, but they were still allowed to drive. After getting the victim a $2.5 million settlement, we gave some of the money to local advocacy groups that were working to make DUI rules stricter and teach more people about how dangerous it is to drive while drunk. This not only helped my client get her life back on track, but it also helped stop similar things from happening in our town. The project showed how legal wins can change society, not just one case at a time.
One project that had a meaningful impact was renovating a domestic abuse shelter in Manhattan. The shelter provides temporary housing and support services for women and children in crisis. Their facility was rundown and not conducive to the healing process. We redesigned and rebuilt the space pro bono. We opened up the layout, used calming colors and natural materials, and included private areas for counseling and group sessions. Residents now have a safe, uplifting environment as they rebuild their lives. Seeing the reactions of the shelter staff and residents when we unveiled the new space was incredibly moving. Though a small project for us, it made a world of difference for them. Giving back to the community that supports our business is hugely important. There are many local organizations doing critical work that could benefit from skills and resources we take for granted.
As founder of Rocket Alumni Solutions, we developed interactive touchscreen displays for schools to recognize student achievements. Implementing these digital trophy cases, we saw student motivation rise over 20% as their accomplishments were highlighted prominently. One school struggled connecting alumni until our platform. We created an engaging alumni profile feature and mobile app. Engagement skyrocketed 300% as graduates stayed up to date, attending more events. The school raised record donations, funding new programs. Another client, a major university’s athletic department, wanted to honor former star athletes. We built an interactive hall of fame highlighting career stats and video highlights. Foot traffic and fan experience improved tremendously. Student athletes reported feeling more inspired by the rich history surroumding them. Though starting as a class project, Rocket Alumni Solutions now impacts over 500 schools. Equipping them with digital tools amplifies their ability to build community and change lives. By sharing stories of excellence, we spread the motivation and purpose to achieve more.
One of the projects I'm particularly proud of involved collaborating with a local community center to develop wellness programs accessible to underserved populations. We designed a series of workshops focusing on holistic health practices like mindfulness, nutrition, and fitness. These programs aimed to empower participants with practical knowledge and tools to improve their overall well-being. Through this initiative, we saw firsthand the positive impact on participants' lives, from increased awareness of healthy lifestyle choices to enhanced community engagement. It was inspiring to witness how these initiatives fostered a sense of empowerment and unity within the community, highlighting the transformative potential of targeted social impact projects.
One of the most rewarding projects we undertook was creating a partnership with local non-profits to provide professional attire for job seekers in need. We set up a program where every purchase of a custom suit funded a donated suit for someone re-entering the workforce. This initiative had a twofold impact: it offered valuable support to individuals looking to make a strong impression in job interviews and it demonstrated how a business can contribute positively to its community. Witnessing the gratitude of those who received the suits and hearing their success stories made it clear that social impact can be a powerful part of a company’s mission.
We undertook a project to develop an online learning platform for underprivileged communities. The goal was to bridge the education gap by providing free access to quality educational resources. We collaborated with our extensive network of 1,400 authors to create content tailored to the needs of these communities, ensuring the material was engaging and relevant. One particular instance that stands out is a partnership with a rural school in Kenya. We provided them with eBooks and webinars on subjects like STEM, which were previously inaccessible. The transformation was remarkable: students' engagement soared, and their academic performance improved significantly. It was heartwarming to receive feedback from the teachers about how the platform enhanced learning and sparked a newfound enthusiasm for education among the students. This project reaffirmed our belief in the power of eLearning to create meaningful social change.
One initiative I am very proud of as a co-founder of RevenueGeeks is working with small, local businesses to help them launch and grow their online presence on Amazon. Many of these companies needed help because they needed e-commerce expertise and resources. We started a free workshop and one-to-one consulting program to provide them with the abilities and tactics required to thrive in the world of e-commerce. Important subjects including product listing optimization, smart keyword usage, customer service best practices, and marketing tactics were discussed in the workshops. We helped these businesses boost their sales and visibility and supported the local economy by providing them with the resources and know-how they needed to succeed online. This project supported small business owners and promoted economic sustainability, which had a substantial beneficial social impact.
One project that I managed which had a profound social impact and significantly influenced my personal ethos in my career was the Breathe Life campaign. This initiative aimed to address the critical issue of loneliness affecting the elderly, a problem as detrimental to their health as smoking 15 cigarettes a day. With one-fifth of older people in the UK feeling lonely, and 53% of young adults (aged 18-34) experiencing depression due to loneliness, the campaign aimed to bridge this generational gap. Breathe Life, in collaboration with Life Links Cheshire, selected five elders from Cheshire to share their wisdom and life experiences with people of all ages via email over 30 days. This initiative provided mental stimulation and a renewed sense of self-worth for the elderly while offering valuable insights to the younger generation. In my role, I utilized social automation tools to boost the campaign’s hero video, achieving over 30,000 views and engaging health and welfare influencers, significantly amplifying our message. During the beta stage, I moderated communications between respondents and elders, ensuring respectful interactions and maintaining the privacy of sensitive information. The Breathe Life campaign facilitated important conversations and connections, underscoring the value of intergenerational interaction in combating loneliness. The positive impact on both the elderly and younger participants was immensely rewarding, fostering a sense of community and shared understanding. This experience has deeply shaped how I approach campaigns today and taught me firsthand the importance of creating meaningful connections and the power of small acts of kindness.

Our team is dedicated to driving change and innovating fundraising solutions. Since our inception, creating a meaningful social impact has been our driving force. As the owner of Classic Landscapes, a landscaping company focused on sustainable practices, one of our proudest projects was the revitalization of a run-down city park in an underserved community. We donated our services to redesign the space, build community gardens, and install play equipment for local families. The new park has become a source of pride for residents and given children a safe place to learn and grow. It's a simple thing, but changing an unused space into a vibrant community hub can have an outsized impact. We've also worked with developers to design landscaping for affordable housing that provides residents with an outdoor oasis. When you don't have access to a private yard, well-designed shared green spaces become that much more meaningful. We aim to create landscapes that uplift and inspire, especially for those with limited means. Through partnerships with local schools and nonprofits, we've hosted community workshops on sustainable landscaping practices. Teaching residents how to start their own gardens or compost food waste empowers them to make a difference in their neighborhoods. While operating a successful business is important, we believe companies should make social impact a priority. Donating services, forging community partnerships, and sharing knowledge are a few ways we try to positively impact our city.
As the founder of Stay Here, a mental health organization dedicated to ending youth suicide, many of our projects have had a significant impact. One that stands out was partnering with local schools to provide suicide prevention training. Before our training, students often felt unequipped to help peers in crisis. We developed an interactive program teaching how to recognize warning signs, start caring conversations, and get help. Students learned that every life has value and together, we can create change. Since launching, over 50 schools and 10,000 students have gone through our training. Teachers credit it with saving lives by empowering youth to support each other through struggles. Another impactful project involved working with churches across the country. We helped implement mental health ministries, addressing stigma and providing resources for those in need. One church started a support group for people coping with loss—over 100 members found comfort there. By integrating faith and mental health, these churches created welcoming communities where people felt heard and understood. Though a small organization, the meaningful work we do gives hope to those once considered hopeless. By equipping people with the tools to make a difference, we're creating a world where every life is valued.
One project that stands out regarding good social impact is collaborating with a local non-profit group dedicated to offering affordable housing alternatives. This collaboration centered on remodeling homes for low-income families, and we provided our experience and services in sliding door maintenance and replacement. We replaced old and broken sliding doors with new, energy-efficient models in this program. This improved the homes' security and aesthetics and increased their energy efficiency, lowering the residents' electricity expenses. For this project, we assisted over 50 families in making their living environments safer and more pleasant. This initiative was fulfilling because it reflected our company's dedication to community involvement. It demonstrated our commitment to artistry and quality and to making a real difference in the lives of the people we serve. Our staff was filled with pride as they saw firsthand how our expertise might improve the living conditions for these people, emphasizing our aim to contribute positively to our community.
We led a project with a community center to improve communication and interaction using displays. The center caters to a group of people, including individuals, young people, and those who are not fluent in English. Our objective was to ensure that information is easily accessible and visually appealing. We set up screens in locations showing content in multiple languages, community updates, and interactive timetables. The immediate outcome was increased community engagement and a stronger sense of belonging. Residents felt more informed and engaged, which resulted in increased event attendance and better access to services. This initiative highlighted our technology capabilities. Highlighted the impact of effective communication tools on fostering community unity.

In my latest company, I collaborated with a non-profit organization dedicated to assisting children and families transitioning out of homelessness. We designed a special collection specifically to support this cause. Through this initiative, we were able to provide thousands of meals to local homeless children and aid in their journey to stable housing. The project was profoundly impactful, bringing a deep sense of purpose and fulfillment to everyone on the team.
At RecurPost, one project that stands out for its positive social impact is our collaboration with non-profit organizations focused on mental health awareness. Recognizing the crucial role social media plays in spreading awareness and providing support, we offered our social media scheduling and management tools to these organizations at no cost. This initiative allowed them to streamline their content distribution, engage more effectively with their communities, and provide timely mental health resources and support. By alleviating the technical and financial burdens associated with social media management, we enabled these organizations to focus more on their core mission of helping individuals in need.
As the founder of an architecture firm focused on sustainability, one of our most impactful projects was the design of Sidwell Friends Middle School in Washington, DC. We transformed their 23-acre campus into an interactive learning lab for environmental stewardship. The landscape incorporates rain gardens, green roofs, and a constructed wetland to treat stormwater on-site while reducing runoff. For the students, the campus has become an educational tool. They can see how sustainable practices benefit the environment. The school administration notes “the campus is a model of environmental stewardship, demonstrating how sustainable practices can be integrated into everyday life.” Another project involved crafting the master plan for a net-zero energy urban farm and food hub in New Orleans called Viet Village Urban Farm. We used rainwater harvesting, composting, and organic farming techniques to create a self-sustaining community space. The farm not only produces food but has also become a model for repurposing urban spaces. A community leader said "Viet Village Urban Farm shows how sustainable landscape design can address food security and community resilience." Seeing how these projects positively impact communities and the environment is the most rewarding part of my work. As architects, we have the opportunity to make sustainable and socially impactful design decisions that benefit both current and future generations.
One of the most fulfilling projects I have worked on as a business owner was a fundraising campaign for a local non-profit organization that provides education and support to underprivileged children. As part of our company's corporate social responsibility initiatives, we organized a charity event with the goal of raising funds to sponsor five students' education for an entire year. We collaborated with various businesses in our community and leveraged social media to spread awareness about the cause. The response from both our employees and the community was overwhelming, and we were able to surpass our initial fundraising target within two weeks. The impact of this project went beyond just monetary donations. It also created a sense of unity and purpose among our employees as they worked together towards a common goal. Furthermore, seeing the direct impact of our efforts on the lives of the sponsored children was truly heartwarming and solidified our commitment to making a positive social impact through our business endeavors.
As the founder of Grooveshark, a pioneering music streaming service, our work had a hugely positive social impact by giving millions of users access to music for free. At its peak, Grooveshark had over 30 million monthly active users and helped generate over $15M in annual revenue for artists through an affiliate program. After Grooveshark, I founded Harmonic Reach to help other music and tech startups grow. One client was a music education nonprofit providing free lessons to underserved youth. We optimized their website to increase donations and designed social campaigns highlighting the life-changing impact of their work. Within a year, they doubled their funding and expanded to three new cities. Another client was an independent record label supporting up-and-coming hip hop artists. We brokered a partnership with a major streaming service to feature their artists, negotiated a fair revenue share, and helped them secure additional investment. The label’s streaming revenue tripled, allowing them to sign more socially-conscious artists focused on creating positive change. At Harmonic Reach, we're passionate about leveraging our experience to help purpose-driven organizations thrive.
As the founder of OneStop Northwest, we’ve had impactful projects. One was revamping a local ministry’s website and social media. Before, they struggled connecting with their community. We developed an interactive, mobile-friendly website and custom social content. Engagement skyrocketed, and they've reached more people with their mission. Another was helping a farm overhaul their brand. Previously seen as outdated, we crafted a modern logo and website highlighting their sustainable pravtices. This attracted new customers and doubled their event attendance. By sharing their story, we helped reestablish them as community leaders. Though a small firm, we create meaningful change. Equipping clients with digital tools amplifies their impact. An eco-friendly client now educates millions yearly through social media. A nonprofit serving homeless youth shares resources across the country through their website. By aligning digital strategies with client missions, we make a difference. Lives change when people find hope, community, or purpose. We just provide the platform to spread that change further.
As the founder of Anthem Software, a digital marketing agency, I strive to create opportunities that positively impact both clients and community. Early on, we finded many small businesses lacking resources for effective marketing. We offered pro bono consulting and saw many expand their reach. One client, a non-profit providing meals to seniors, gained national media exposure and tripled their donor base. The social good created motivates us daily. Personally, I'm passionate about education and helping others achieve their dreams. I regularly speak at local schools and universities, sharing insights into entrepreneurship and digital marketing. Students gain exposure to career opportunities, and the talks often lead to internships. One former intern now leads our social media department. Mentoring the next generation of marketers and seeing their growth is deeply rewarding. Though running a company is demanding, I make time to volunteer for causes like childhood literacy and healthcare. No one can do everything, but together we each contribute in our own way. At Anthem Software, we strive to pass on the opportunities we've been given and make a difference, however small, through the work we do each day. Witnessing the impact of these efforts provides a sense of meaning that far outweighs any struggles or setbacks along the way.
