The idea for our bridal and event accessory rental service came directly from watching what happens after weddings and events on the farm. Guests go home, the flowers fade, the joy lingers—but the beautiful accessories, veils, jewelry, and decor pieces often end up boxed away, never to be worn or used again. It struck me how much artistry, craftsmanship, and cost went into these items, only for them to have such a short life. As someone who values sustainability in farming, food, and daily living, it didn't sit right with me. I thought—why not create a way for these special pieces to be cherished by many brides, not just one? That's how the rental model was born. This approach supports eco-conscious fashion in two ways: first, it reduces waste by extending the life cycle of high-quality accessories that might otherwise sit in storage or be discarded. Second, it helps couples allocate their budget toward what really matters to them—whether that's organic farm-to-table catering, live music, or extra time with their photographer—without compromising on style or quality. We've curated our collection from timeless, well-made pieces that photograph beautifully and can be adapted to different themes. I love seeing the same vintage hair comb worn by three brides in completely different ways, or a set of pearl earrings passed between sisters and friends over the years. It gives each item a living story. For me, it's about shifting the mindset: you don't have to own something for it to be meaningful. You just have to choose it with intention, enjoy it fully, and then let it bring joy to the next person. That's fashion with heart—and a little less footprint on the earth.

My experiences attending various weddings in our Punjabi culture and community stimulated my inspiration as to why I should start a rental service for bridal and event accessories. I started The Punjabi Kudi as I noticed many in our culture as to how they invest in statement jewellery, embellished clutches, and ornate kalire. These items are usually worn once and kept away. I wanted to change this and created a simple platform where every woman could enjoy, for a fraction of the cost, the cultural and beauty aspects of these items. My rental service aligns with my values and beliefs regarding sustainability. Allowing these bridal and event accessories to have multiple lifecycles as to why they need to be reused furthers the fight against mass production and helps the fashion industry's environmental impact. Each time one of my accessories is rented instead of bought for a wedding, it aids in combating textile waste, carbon emissions, and the purchase of goods instead of renting. We are simultaneously conserving the environment and keeping traditions alive. Apart from sustainability, The Punjabi Kudi also elevates luxury and cultural authenticity to new heights. While not everyone has the means to invest in high-end, meticulously crafted pieces, our rental service ensures women can still embrace the regal and one-of-a-kind nature of such pieces during their special occasions. This model reinforces the celebration of heritage and style while caring for the planet—showing us that fashion can indeed be glamorous and responsible.
The inspiration for creating a rental service for bridal and event accessories came from noticing the growing waste in the fashion industry. As a sustainable fashion advocate, I saw how many beautiful pieces were worn once and then stored away, barely used again. I wanted to offer a solution that allowed people to enjoy high-quality, stylish accessories without the commitment of purchasing items they'd only use once. This model supports an eco-conscious approach by reducing the demand for new production, cutting down on waste, and promoting the reuse of luxury items. By renting out accessories, we help customers reduce their environmental footprint while still allowing them to wear stunning pieces for their special occasions. It's a win-win—stylish, sustainable, and affordable.
