Living in The Villages really gives you a slice of the active retirement life, having been a resident for a couple of years in the Lake Deaton area. A typical Saturday starts with a sunrise walk or a golf cart ride to one of the many recreation centers to catch up with friends or dive into the book club that meets early. Activities are nonstop here; from pickleball tournaments to craft classes held throughout the day, you're never short on options. Most of us wind down by joining one of the numerous live music events in the evenings, which are a fun highlight, or heading to one of the town squares for dinner. Retiring here was, for me, a great choice, but it certainly needs to fit your lifestyle. The sense of community and the array of activities are unbeatable perks and keep everyone socially active and physically fit. However, it can feel a bit overwhelming at times with so much going on, and it's easy to overcommit your schedule. What I appreciate most, though, is the ease of meeting people and making friends who share common interests. For anyone considering it, I'd say think about how active you want to be in your retirement. If you love being on the go and trying new activities, it's a spot-on choice; if you prefer a quieter, more contemplative retirement, it might feel a bit much.
