As a Master Electrician in a theatre environment, I must ensure that the light plot is hung correctly and safely. The electrics in a fly system must be properly weighted, ensuring every light is correctly attached to the baton and every instrument has a safety chain. Theatre, although fun, is one of the only professions in the world where you have thousands of pounds "free hanging" over your head. On top of this, it is the job of the Master Electrician to ensure that all power loads on the circuits are kept within a safe level. This is just a glimpse into what a theatrical master Electrician is responsible for, but I would argue they are the most important.
