I am a divorce attorney mediator with a high volume practice in Massachusetts. I have successfully mediated over 1800 divorces. I am a graduate of Brown University and the University of Pennsylvania Law School. Traditionally, divorce mediators have met with their clients face-to-face. When Covid hit, my business went from 100% face-to-face to 100% via Zoom from one week to the next, and I have not gone back. I remain a Zoom-only divorce mediator, and I probably have the highest volume practice in Massachusetts. This also involved moving from a paper-based business--documents that are reviewed at by all parties or filled out in an in-person meeting--to Google Docs that are shared remotely. I pair this with using Google Forms to collect client data and custom google scripts to tranform questionnaire data into custom legal documents. This allows me to run a busy practice with only part-time office help. Finally, the Zoom revolution let me expand my practice to the entire state. Divorce is regulated by state law, and all courts use the same forms and follow the same laws. Before Covid, people used mediators within a short drive, perhaps half an hour. Now they are free to use mediators from anywhere in the state. My business is now bigger than it has ever been since Zoom freed me of the small cachement area that face-to-face businesses have. We also used AI for content generation, creating more engaging and relevant material that resonated with our audience. The transition wasn't without its challenges. We had to reconfigure our app’s infrastructure to support these new technologies, train our team extensively, and adjust our marketing strategies to highlight our enhanced capabilities. However, the benefits quickly became apparent. The app’s user engagement metrics soared, and we received positive feedback on the improved user experience. Additionally, AI-enabled features helped us scale efficiently, manage content creation more effectively, and reach a broader audience. This experience reinforced my belief in the necessity of embracing technological advancements. Adapting to these changes not only helped us stay ahead in a competitive landscape but also enhanced our ability to serve our users better. It’s a clear example of how staying adaptable and open to new technologies is crucial for growth and success in today’s rapidly evolving business environment.
One significant technological change we adapted to in the self-storage industry was the transition to cloud-based access control systems. The Change: Initially, our facility used traditional key-and-lock systems for unit access, which required physical management and was less secure. We decided to upgrade to a cloud-based access control system that uses digital keypads and mobile access.
