I usually try to change people's perspectives about things, so that they can get to a resolution. I mediated a tough landlord/tenant case, where the tenant and her adult daughter were fighting tooth and nail to stay in the place. During the mediation, I asked how this conflict was affecting their mental, physical and emotional well-being. After reflecting on this and crying about how terrible things had gotten, they felt it was in their best interest to leave ASAP. I went back to the landlord to tell him that his tenants would be leaving in 30 days and would pay full rent. He was so shocked. The tenants thanked me profusely for giving them a healthier perspective and even called me an angel.
Effective dispute mediation involves strong communication, understanding all parties' perspectives, and aiming for a mutually satisfactory solution. For instance, in a revenue-sharing disagreement, a brand blames an external partner for low traffic and poor conversions, while the partner asserts that the brand hasn't supplied adequate promotional support. Both are frustrated, with the brand viewing the partner as underperforming and the partner feeling unsupported.
Mediating disputes in affiliate marketing can be complex due to differing stakeholder interests, such as those of advertisers, affiliates, and networks. A significant case involved an influencer affiliate accusing an advertiser of not honoring commission agreements, jeopardizing their partnership amid discrepancies in commission payments. The advertiser claimed the sales were invalid due to terms, highlighting the challenges in resolving such conflicts effectively.
