Communicating with the intent to express and understand! Your communication skills suck because you're either focused on what your partner did/said and not expressing your feelings and experience. Or...you're listening to defend your self or to respond to what your partner is saying. If you're sharing/expressing - don't use the word 'you'...at all. Focus on what you experienced, the feelings that came up for you, the thoughts that you spiraled on. If you're listening - focus on listening to UNDERSTAND, not to defend your self or to respond. You'll have to turn that little voice in your head off that is saying 'that's not what happened!' or 'that's not what I meant!' Vulnerability in the real world can be a weakness...in relationships it's a superpower. Intimacy (emotional & sexual) does not exist without vulnerability.
I have incorporated EMDR in couples sessions with clients to promote compassion, empathy, and understanding. EMDR can be a helpful modality because it gives the couple an opportunity to process past relationship trauma that may be impacting thier connection and communication today. The resourcing phase of EMDR can provide individuals with self-regulation techniques and psychoeducation related to communication skills. EMDR can enhance a secure attachment bond, improve communication, and support a deeper connection for couples.
Effective interventions for couples in therapy, such as Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), can help partners renew their commitment. EFT enhances emotional awareness and secure bonds by addressing negative interaction patterns and encouraging open expression of feelings. Counseling services can attract couples by promoting EFT workshops, featuring role-playing exercises, and sharing testimonials from couples who have successfully improved their relationships through these techniques.
Understanding how therapy professionals assist couples in renewing their commitment is vital for aligning marketing strategies. Key interventions include couples therapy, utilizing approaches like Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and the Gottman Method to enhance emotional connections and communication.
