One unexpected challenge we faced during a vertical merger was the cultural clash between the two companies. While we had complementary services, the way teams communicated and worked was very different. To overcome this, we set up regular meetings between departments, encouraging open communication and sharing of best practices. We also brought in team-building activities to help everyone get on the same page. My advice to other companies going through similar hurdles is to prioritize aligning company cultures early on-this makes a huge difference in how smoothly the merger progresses.
