Basically, we did what many other websites do: check Google Search Console keywords - find what is missing in existing content - add new keywords - repeat. At some point, we noticed that category pages with more than average text volume started to perform worse, despite having better keyword coverage. We rolled them back to the previous iteration and positions recovered. Then we decided to remove the SEO content for a group of pages, and we got the best positions we ever had. After that, we did the same for other pages and it worked just as well. It is worth noting the content wasn't AI-generated. Usually, it was about how to choose the product from a certain category.
