A few years ago, I volunteered with a local community garden project that focused on providing fresh produce to families in need. My background in both practical gardening and theoretical horticulture gave me the ability to diagnose problems quickly and offer real solutions that anyone could apply. I also emphasized the importance of long term planning so the garden could thrive season after season rather than being a short term fix. Watching people gain confidence and take pride in the food they were growing showed me that sharing expertise is just as important as having it.
