The best, if not one of the best, fashion marketing book that I would recommend to anyone would be, "Marketing Fashion: Portfolio Series", by Harriet Posner. I am not a fashion expert myself, but when one of my past colleagues gave me his copy, I was stunned by all the expertly explained concepts and knowledge I was able to grasp when reading this! Marketing Fashion is a practical guide to the fundamental principles of marketing and branding, from catwalk to price calculation, and developing brand identity to creating a customer profile. This book explains key theoretical concepts and illustrates how they are applied within the global fashion and retail industry, from haute couture to the mass market. While this should be a for sure read for any college level students interested in marketing, it's an easy enough read for anyone of any age!
One of the most comprehensive and clear-eyed books on fashion marketing is The Business of Fashion: Designing, Manufacturing, and Marketing by Leslie Davis Burns, Kathy K. Mullet, and Nancy O. Bryant. Going well beyond simple advertising, this book takes a look at the end-to-end process of fashion, from initial design to sale, all of which informs brand strategy and marketing campaigns. This book is so authoritative that it has been re-released multiple times and is now on its fifth edition. With a special emphasis on the globalization of marketing, it offers a ton of value to those looking to market and sell garments across borders. In addition, this book focuses on newer concepts like social responsibility and sustainable practices in connection with fashion. It is a fantastic, comprehensive book that anyone getting into the fashion marketing field should read.
