Mangools’ SERPWatcher is a personal favorite of mine. It's part of a package that I particularly enjoy, along with KWFinder, my preferred keyword tool. What I love about SERPWatcher is its dynamic and interactive nature as an SEO tool. I've utilized it to successfully reverse a decline in traffic for several websites. The feature that allows me to monitor domain keywords and make daily adjustments has been particularly useful. Additionally, the tool provides in-depth keyword analysis, considering their placement on both desktop and mobile devices worldwide. The synergy between Mangools’ KWFinder and SERPWatcher is truly remarkable. When I integrate and use both tools in tandem, they complement each other perfectly. The user-friendliness of the software makes it accessible and advantageous for users of all levels, including newcomers and seasoned SEO experts. With suitable data and settings, Mangools’ SERPWatcher and KWFinder empower me to enhance my SEO strategies effectively.
Screaming Frog One of my favorite SEO tools is Screaming Frog that is used to fix technical issues of the website. It's like a detective for websites that scan your website data, find and fix issues that impact your site's performance. It fixes issues like broken links, repeated content, missing meta tags and improves overall health of the website. It also ensures that it's in top shape for better search engine rankings.
One of the most impactful tools my team has used to scale our traffic exponentially is Google's PageSpeed Insights tool. After the roll-out of technical Core Web Vitals as a ranking factor, most web marketing teams, including ours, have completely re-prioritized ranking strategies. The tool gives me page-by-page visibility of what page performance blockers exist on the site, and makes it easy for me to send diagnostics and potential time savings over to the developer team. Since taking on a performance-first approach, our traffic has improved 3x in a short period of time. Though strong content and on-page optimization continues to be top of mind, we've found that it's equally as important to look back at the basics of our website build and optimize our script loading times, image sizes, 3rd-party tracking codes and more.

We use a number of paid tools for SEO — Moz and Birdeye are a couple — but my favorite tools are free browser extensions. The Blue Button extension offers details about individual pages, showing you on-page SEO details as well as and technical details like scripts and stylesheets. It gives us a starting list of how good a page's SEO is and what we can do to improve it before we even read through the page. There are a couple others I have that do essentially the same thing: SEO Pro Extension by MarketingSyrup and Ahrefs SEO Toolbar. I tend to use multiple of these extensions whenever I'm working on a site, since one tool might miss something another will catch.
Buzzsumo is one of my favorite tools in my SEO toolkit because it helps me discover popular content, influential industry leaders, and trending topics. By understanding what type of content resonates with my target audience, I can craft engaging and shareable content that attracts organic traffic. For example, if I run a fashion blog, Buzzsumo can show me the most popular articles on fashion trends, influencers generating high engagement, and trending topics in the fashion industry. This knowledge allows me to create relevant and compelling content, improving my website's visibility, increasing backlinks, and enhancing overall SEO performance.

SEO content writers (like myself) can say the same thing in multiple ways. While we might construct great ideas and insights, we also need to ensure algorithms will understand those ideas just as well as our human readers. That's what I love about Surfer SEO -- the massive word bank shares dozens of terms to use within my writing that adds context to my content. I can easily rephrase something I've written to optimize it for search without losing its meaning or making it less impactful for readers. Using the right terms in the right way has helped me to rank higher in organic search, all from a few simple tweaks that I may have missed otherwise.
My favorite tool in our SEO toolkit has to be SERPRobot. It's like having an always-on team, consistently monitoring your keyword positions on Google. This tool is a total game-changer as it keeps track of your website's rankings and, importantly, keeps an eye on what your competition is doing. This means you're always ahead of the game! The best thing about SERPRobot is its ability to identify the keywords that are driving your organic traffic and increasing sales. It provides ranking analytics across multiple platforms and sends alerts for any changes in keyword positions. The cherry on top is their excellent customer support. And the cost? Just $5 for tracking 75 keywords, which to me represents incredible value for money.
BuzzSumo, while primarily known for content marketing, offers valuable insights for SEO. It helps identify popular content in a specific niche, allowing for strategic content creation and optimization. Additionally, BuzzSumo aids in finding influential websites related to your industry, which can be beneficial for link building and building relationships with key players. For example, by analyzing popular content in the fitness industry, you can identify trending topics and create optimized content around those topics, increasing your chances of attracting organic traffic. BuzzSumo's ability to uncover content and website opportunities makes it a recommended tool for SEO professionals.
Ahrefs is a great tool for tracking historical data, seeing who’s linking to you and where your backlinks are from, and answering questions like, “Who is linking to this competitor?” Or, “How many backlinks do we have from Ahrefs?” You can also use it to track keyword rankings, competitor data, and tons more. I use it daily to track stats and trends for PPC, SEO, and content. I highly recommend Ahrefs because it’s the only SEO tool I’ve seen that tracks so much information, and it’s easy to use.
SEMrush and its Content Gap Analysis Feature SEMrush is one of my favorite tools in my SEO tool kit, and its “Content Gap Analysis” feature stands out. This tool’s actionable insight empowers me to align content strategy with user needs. Its “Content Gap Analysis” feature allows me to find the topics my competitors rank for and fill in the gaps on a specific topic in my content plan. This feature helps create content that addresses user intent and allows me to diversify topics and avoid publishing similar content.
BuzzSumo is an excellent tool for SEO as it helps in content research by analyzing popular topics and trends. By identifying what content performs well in terms of social shares, backlinks, and engagement, it enables users to create SEO-optimized content. For example, if a user is writing a blog post on 'top digital marketing strategies,' they can use BuzzSumo to discover the most shared and linked articles on this topic. They can then analyze the key elements of those articles and create their own with a better structure, more thorough analysis, or unique perspective. This increases the chances of attracting backlinks and social shares, which ultimately improves SEO performance. I highly recommend BuzzSumo as it provides valuable insights that can shape content strategies, leading to improved search engine visibility and organic traffic.
