Emotional Regulation by Letting Go We recently organized an emotional well-being workshop at our LPO. One of the techniques taught by the expert was ‘The Sedona Method’ as developed by Lester Levenson. The Sedona Method is a practical tool that helps to let go of intrusive and anxious thoughts by bringing them to your consciousness. It comprises asking yourself four questions in the same order and answering them yourself. The answer to the first three questions can be yes or no, depending on your choice. The answer to the fourth question is always ‘Right Now’. Let me tell you how to use this method: Whenever you feel anxious or sad or angry or notice a knot in your stomach or notice tightness in your chest, ask yourself these four questions in the same order. 1. Can I allow myself to feel this feeling fully? Yes/No. 2. Can I let go of this feeling? Yes/No. 3. Am I willing to let go of this feeling? Yes/No. 4. When? Right Now. Repeat these questions a few times and you will feel your anxiety go away. One lawyer from our team reports that he is off anti-depressants upon using this method regularly.
