It's a popular platform but has a perfect alternative in Mastodon. Just like Twitter, it's a microblogging platform where you can publish your thoughts & insights. We call “tweets” on Twitter “toots” instead. Mastodon is entirely decentralized and open source, making it different from centralized Twitter. It is the largest open-source and decentralized platform compared to other social platforms. What makes Mastodon decentralized is that it has a network of different servers where users can set up their servers or join existing servers. Mastodon can mitigate hate and inciteful content with community-based moderation governed by policies in each server community. At the same time, users still get to decide the type of content to allow in their communities.
