Valentine's Day was supposed to be perfect. I had planned a romantic candlelit dinner for the girl I had a crush on for the past two years. But from the moment I woke up, things started to go wrong. I tripped over the cat, burned my toast, and even got stuck in the shower. By the time I arrived at the restaurant, I was a hot mess, and the romantic atmosphere was far from perfect. I was so nervous that I kept messing up. I dropped my fork, spilled the wine, and generally made a fool of myself. Just as we finished our meal, a fire broke out in the kitchen, and the restaurant was evacuated. We found ourselves outside on the street with no idea what to do next. That's when I had an idea. I grabbed her hand and led her to a nearby park, where I randomly set up a picnic. As we sat together under the stars, I shifted into the most confident and romantic version of myself. I wowed the girl with my words and won her heart all over again.

Together with my boyfriend, we planned a romantic dinner at a fancy restaurant, and I couldn't wait. As I was getting dressed, I decided to put on my new red lingerie that I had bought specially for the occasion. As we arrived at the restaurant, my boyfriend held the door open for me, and I walked in feeling great. But as I turned to sit at our table, I realized that I had forgotten to take off the tags on my lingerie, which were now prominently displayed on the back of my dress for all to see. I quickly tried to hide them, but it was too late. My boyfriend and everyone in the restaurant had already seen it. I was so embarrassed, but my boyfriend found it hilarious, and we ended up having a great laugh over it.
I awoke to a love note pinned to the mirror, and when I returned to my bedroom, my SO was walking in with a tray containing flowers, brunch, and a package. He had prepared a delicious breakfast for us, and when we were through, he requested me to read the card in which he had written a very real and passionate letter about the things about us that he adored. The package included two plane tickets and brochures for a vacation to Paris, Italy, and Germany. It wasn't the vacation that made me weep; it was his sincerity and the amount of time and preparation he put into it. She is being loved and loving so passionately that a gift.
One of my best Valentine's Day stories was when I was in college. My then-boyfriend and I decided to celebrate the holiday by cooking a fancy dinner together at home. We spent the whole day preparing and cooking the meal together, trying out new recipes and having fun in the kitchen. The dinner turned out to be delicious and we enjoyed it while sitting by the fireplace and drinking wine. We also exchanged homemade gifts that we had made for each other - I had made him a scrapbook of all our memories together and he had made me a necklace with a pendant shaped like a heart. It was a simple but special day that we spent together and it remains one of my fondest Valentine's Day memories.
