One way I de-stress is through goal-setting. I like SMART Goals (specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound). Every day, I try to set a goal to finish at least one task in full. At the end each day, I review my goals and set new ones for the next day. This helps with de-stressing after a long day. When I review that day's accomplishments, knowing that I finished at least one thing every day helps me feel better, even when the day was long. The key is to make sure you make this one goal achievable for that day. Start with something really small, and then level up as you get accustomed to having a routine where every day, you finish one thing.
After a long day, I like to sit down and enjoy a leisurely dinner. Just being able to relax and unwind while enjoying good food and good company is a luxury. The clatter of silverware, the laughter across the table and the smells of dinner always serve to recenter me. It reminds me of what’s really important and allows me to let the rest go. No matter what kind of day I have had, by the time dinner is over, I find myself relaxed and ready to enjoy my evening.
Soaking in a hot tub can help promote relaxation and reduce stress, allowing you to sleep better at night. The warm water helps to relax your muscles, release tension, and increase circulation, which can help to calm your mind and reduce anxiety. The buoyancy of the water can also take pressure off your joints, further reducing physical stress. Additionally, the heat exposure raises your body temperature and then causes it to drop, which can mimic the natural temperature changes that occur during sleep, promoting drowsiness and aiding in a deeper, more restful sleep.
A lot of us use music while we're at work to help boost our focus, but you can also use it after work to unwind. Consider making a playlist of relaxation music for your after work unwind. If you're lucky enough to have your own private space then you can play it while you sit back and process your days events. IF you aren't quite so lucky as to have dedicated relaxation space, a pair of headphones will work just fine. Choose some songs or instrumentals that you find specifically relaxing. They should be the kind of things where you can close your eyes and simply drift into a state of relaxation. Just a few minutes a day right after work can be enough to help you shake off your work stress and slip into a low energy, relaxed mindset.

Clothes can make the man, and they can also keep you stuck in a certain energy! Whether a person likes it or not, wherever you've been is what you take with you to your next location -- unless you choose to deliberately alter your energy. If you'd like to leave work at the office, it requires a mindset shift which is not alwasy so easy to do. Changing out of your work clothes and into something else can be a simple environmental shift that signals to your brain and body that you are now in a different space. If your goal is to destress and unwind when you get home, changing your clothes will support you in shifting gears a lot more easily.
After a long day of work, it can be difficult to find relaxation and peace of mind. A great way to de-stress is to take a break from the digital world by unplugging any electronic devices - such as smartphones, tablets, or laptops. This reduces stimulation and gives you the opportunity for some self-reflection. An uncommon suggestion for releasing stress after a long day is writing gratitude letters; taking time to write about what you are grateful for can bring positive emotions and help destress. These letters don’t need to be shared with anyone else and should take no more than 10 minutes out of your evening as an end-of-the-day ritual.
Being a CEO of a small business there is stress everywhere from dealing with customers to employees to manufacturing issues. My best de-stressing technique is to take the dog for a walk. It's hard to think about work or stress with being outside and with a happy dog. We like to go for walks and stop and see some of our favorite neighbors. It's one of my favorite parts of the day and helps me destress after a long day.

While more and more people get into meditation to calm their nerves and relieve all that work-related stress, I prefer to sweat it off. Hitting a gym in the evening, possibly quite late, can be very relaxing and therapeutic. Just put on your headphones and go for a workout. You'll feel better, satisfied with the effort you've put in, and get some quality relaxation time should you have the option to go to a sauna right after.
My favorite way to de-stress after a long day is to treat myself to 10 minutes of uninterrupted "me time" that I dedicate to intentional mindfulness. As a mom, it is oftentimes difficult to carve out even 10 minutes of time to yourself, and to effectively manage the time-blocking, here are two tips you could try. 1. Listen to a short guided meditation on your favorite app + lock yourself in your bathroom. 2. If delightful fragrance helps you relax, "Hibi Incense Matches" available at Ikaga Co. (ikagaco.com) are unique, cleverly designed strike-on-box aromatherapy incense that burn exactly for 10 minutes. To increase your chances of getting to the 10-minute mark without interference, lock yourself in your bathroom for this too.
We don't let stress out, thus it builds up inside of us. One of the most practical ways to relieve stress is to dance to your favorite music. Create a playlist of a few upbeat dance tunes, and when you arrive home, play it. Then stand up and dance, or bounce around in your seat while listening to the music. You don't have to be a dancer. Just move - hop up and down or do any spontaneous motions. When we feel good physically, our mind feels good too. Dancing and singing release happy hormones. This reduces stress and causes our bodies to feel calm, happy, and optimistic after a long days work.
Consider getting a video game console, such as an Oculus Quest, to de-stress after a long day. Video games have been shown to help improve mental health and reduce stress. Playing them can help you feel good and boost your mood, particularly if you use them to workout.

With three children under four there isn’t a huge amount of time to de-stress after a long day, but we think that enjoying the simple things in life and switching off your phones and enjoying the little things are keys to de-stressing. My wife and I run our business together, so it's very important to have time where we switch off from our ’work to do list’ and relax as a couple, without focusing on the business too much. Therefore after a long day we like to focus on our children, enjoy the bedtime and bath time routine and read lots of stories with them. We then enjoy cooking a meal together and in the summer we enjoy gardening in the evening!
Taking a break from your day-to-day routine can be a great way to relax after a long day. An uncommon example of this could be stepping out for some star gazing. By going outside and looking up into the night sky, you are able to detach yourself from everyday stressors in order to reconnect with nature and recenter yourself. The vast expanse of stars also serves as a gentle reminder of how small and insignificant our problems can sometimes appear when taking perspective of the bigger picture.
Journaling is a great way to de-stress. Letting your thoughts out on paper allows you to vent without having to worry about bothering someone else. Finding a way to articulate certain feelings you have been experiencing can be very healing, allowing you to ultimately work through them.

I escape to my home painting studio, turn on some music and create. It’s important for everyone to have an outlet, and mine is art. I’ve been an avid artist since childhood. In my opinion, the best way to end a hectic day is by putting my remaining energy onto a colorful canvas.
Emotional vulnerability is not always appropriate in professional settings. Therefore, listening to music can be a great way to unwind because music is emotionally therapeutic. Whether it's an upbeat dance song or a romantic ballad, you will feel less alone in whatever feelings you're going through when listening to your favorite tunes.
My best tip for de-stressing after a long day is to take some time for yourself and do something that you enjoy. Taking a few minutes to relax and clear your mind can help you refocus and reduce stress. Some activities that can help are taking a walk outside, listening to music, reading, or practicing some yoga or meditation. Taking this break can help you to feel more relaxed and energized for the rest of the day.
Taking a few minutes to meditate is one of the best ways to de-stress after a long day. Meditation allows you to calm your mind, refocus, and clear your thoughts. It can help you to take a step back and look at problems in a more objective manner, allowing you to come up with creative solutions. It can also help you to reduce stress levels, both mental and physical, allowing you to relax and enjoy the rest of your evening. Additionally, it can help you to be more mindful, which can lead to improved focus and better decision making. Taking just a few moments to meditate can provide an abundance of benefits that can help you in many areas of life.
Get some exercise. That may be the last thing you want to do after a stressful day, but starting is the hardest part. Once you get going, whether you're running or lifting weights, you'll clear your mind by focusing on whatever physical activity you're engaging in rather than worrying about what happened earlier in the day.
When it comes to relieving tension and feeling rejuvenated, nothing beats a short nap in the afternoon. Numerous studies have confirmed that twenty or thirty minutes of rest is one of the best methods to control mood, eliminate stress, and calm down. After you wake up from your slumber, you will feel an immense increase in energy levels - without any fear of sleeping too much or being overly groggy afterward. Twenty minutes is exactly enough for both body and mind to get its necessary boost.
