Never put passion in front of principle, even if you win, you’ll lose. This is one of my favourite quotes and surprisingly it comes from the fictional character Mr Miyagi of the 80's film franchise; The Karate Kid. But I think this is a brilliant quote to bettering yourself as a person, because being a better person means having the strength, courage and discipline to stick to your values even when external factors and opportunities (passions), however great they may seem, tempt you away from them. To me this quote says that if you bend or negate your principality in the wake of these opportunities, you'll weaken your character and despite winning in the short term, you'll lose in the long term.
My favorite quote that sums up what it means to be a better person is by Robert Louis Stevenson; "Don't judge each day by the harvest you reap but by the seeds that you plant." I believe this quote emphasizes that success is a long game and comes from the little things we do daily. The seemingly small choices like prioritizing kindness over convenience can have the greatest impact on our lives if we consistently make them. It's important to take ownership of our actions and know each day adds something to who we are and contributes to the greater good. This one simple phrase speaks volumes about how powerful everyday decisions can be.
One of my favorite quotes about being a better person is by the famous philosopher and mathematician, Confucius, who said, "The man who moves a mountain begins by carrying away small stones." This quote speaks to the power of incremental progress and the importance of taking small steps towards a goal. In the context of personal growth, it reminds us that becoming a better person is a journey, not a destination. The quote encourages us to focus on making small improvements every day, rather than trying to make big changes all at once. By taking small, consistent steps, we can gradually make progress and build momentum, just as the man who moves a mountain begins by carrying away small stones. This approach can help us overcome obstacles and stay motivated on our journey towards becoming the best version of ourselves.
"Every job is an opportunity to be a better person." - Benjamin Walker is my favorite quote about being a better person because it emphasizes the idea that personal growth and development are not limited to specific circumstances or experiences. Instead, it suggests that every job, no matter how big or small, can be used as an opportunity to become a better person. This perspective encourages individuals to approach their work with a growth mindset and to view every experience as a chance to improve themselves. Whether it's by developing new skills, learning from mistakes, or making positive contributions to their workplace and community, the message of this quote is that personal growth and improvement are always within reach, no matter what job one has.
"We go through our days responding and reacting, but we rarely pause to ask: Is this thing I’m about to do consistent with what I believe? Or, better: Is this the kind of thing the person I would like to be should do?" - The Daily Stoic, Ryan Holiday
“Talk to yourself like someone you love.” – Brene Brown I think this a a great quote about being a better person and practicing positive self-talk. THis quote is a great reminder that you have to love yourself first in order to help others. I think if everyone had a more positive mindset there would be an abundance of love in the world.
"It's never too late to do the right thing," from Nelson Mandela. The great thing about this quote is that it can apply to many different circumstances. If you didn't do the right thing before, you can always learn from that situation and do better in the future.
The words that come to mind when working towards becoming a better person are spoken by Maya Angelou when she said, “Do the best you can until you know better. Then, when you know better, do better.” We all have to try and do our best, and as we learn more we must be humble and willing enough to change directions or pivot to do better.
“How noble and good everyone could be if, every evening before falling asleep, they were to recall to their minds the events of the whole day and consider exactly what has been good and bad. Then without realizing it, you try to improve yourself at the start of each new day.” Anne Frank.
“Have no fear of perfection; you’ll never reach it.” These simple but powerful words, spoken by Nobel Prize winner Marie Curie, illustrate the importance of striving to always be better without worrying about the end result. It is often easy to fixate on reaching a ‘perfect’ level of achievement in every aspect of life, but learning to accept imperfection is key to becoming a better person. Therefore, embracing one’s flaws while continuing to grow and learn is the best way to improve oneself. Marie Curie's quote serves as a reminder that we should all focus on continuous self-improvement rather than solely aiming for ‘perfection’ - something impossible to achieve.
My favorite quote about being a better person is “Be the change you wish to see in the world” by Mahatma Gandhi. This quote has inspired me to be a better person and to strive to make the world a better place. It encourages us to take personal responsibility for our own actions and to strive to be the best version of ourselves. This quote reminds us that even the smallest changes we make can have a positive ripple effect throughout the world. It encourages us to be a shining example to others and to lead by example. It inspires us to be courageous and to stand up for what we believe in. This quote helps us to remember that our actions have an impact on the people and things around us, so it’s important to make sure that we’re doing our best to create a positive impact. Being the change we wish to see in the world means taking small steps in our own lives and making sure that we’re doing our part to make the world a better place.
I love this quote by Marcus Aurelius: "You have power over your mind - not outside events. Realize this, and you will find strength." I firmly believe that we can live our lives better with an attitude of self-responsibility and personal growth. Life is full of disappointments and challenges, but I believe that by taking ownership and control of our own behavior, emotions, and reactions to events, we can improve our own lives as well as the world around us. I live my life by this quote every day: I strive to take ownership of who I become and be better today than I was yesterday.
"Integrity is doing the right thing, even when no one is watching." This quote from C.S. Lewis captures why being a better person is so important for living an ethical life. Integrity can be hard to maintain when we don't have someone who can constantly monitor our choices, but this quote reminds us that it's worth making an effort anyway. Integrity can help guide our choices and lead us to treat ourselves, others, and the planet with more respect and consideration. Integrity may not guarantee success in life, but it will bring peace of mind knowing that you are striving to become a better person each and every day.
"It does not matter how slowly you go as long as you do not stop." – Confucius In the age of social media, people, especially young people, are facing a confidence crisis. We compare ourselves to these online exemplars of success in countless domains, leaving us feeling inferior and bitter. To liberate yourself from this mindset, you must run your own race at your own pace. Whether you graduate from university at 21 or 61, progress should always be celebrated. Successful people are simply those who actually achieve success, not those who succeed by some arbitrary deadline. By following this approach, you avoid becoming jaded by the successes of others and help maintain a positive growth mindset. Take your time, stop comparing yourself to other people, and most importantly, never give up. This is how to become a better person.
"Continuous effort, not strength or intelligence, is the key to unlocking our potential." I love this quote by Winston Churchill as it emphasizes the importance of perseverance and hard work in achieving personal growth and becoming a better version of yourself. It suggests that human potential is not determined by our innate blockades but rather by our willingness to put in the effort and keep striving toward things we want to achieve. If we keep telling ourselves that we can't achieve something, then we won't. But if we believe in ourselves and that we can overcome any obstacles on the way to our goal, we will succeed. The secret lies in our mindset and how hard we try to handle challenges.
My favorite quote about being a better person is by J.K. Rowling, “We do not need magic to change the world, we carry all the power we need inside ourselves already.” To me, this quote is a reminder that I have the power to make a positive change in my life and in the world as a whole. It inspires me to take action and be the best version of myself I can be. Also, it reminds me that I have the power to be the change that I want to see in the world. It has inspired me to focus on self-improvement and to strive to be a better person in all areas of life. The quote is a source of motivation for me to make a positive difference in the world, no matter how small it may seem.
I love this quote by Sir Edmond Hillary, the first person (along withTenzing Norgay) to summit Mount Everest. It shows that the real challenge is the internal work, not the physical. That our successes are related to our internal game. That our thoughts matter. When we can manage ourselves, then we can achieve anything.
Society encourages us to look at others to measure ourselves against but that does not determine our progress, and this is why my favorite quote about being a better person is "Do not bother just to be better than your contemporaries or predecessors. Try to be better than yourself." from William Faulkner. We often allow others to serve as the example of what we aspire to be through a competitive perspective or just admiration, but neither provides us an accurate measure of progress. Faulkner recognized the fallacy in thinking someone else’s level of betterment is the metric. He knew that true growth can only be observed in comparison to our past selves. In his statement, he recognized both the individual qualities of personal growth, and the meaninglessness of allowing others to define that for us and this is why it is my favorite quote about being a better person.
"It gets easier. Every day it gets a little easier. But you got to do it every day. That's the hard part, but it does get easier.". These are the words I live by for everything I do–especially when starting a project. Ever since I heard it from a show called “Bojack Horseman”, it has been my life’s mantra. Something about the lack of flowery words and curveball metaphors hit a chord in me. Maybe the entrepreneur in me preferred it this way, direct and without drama. I guess that’s the reality of life. Nothing ever starts off easy, but as time goes by, we adapt to it. We make it easier just by doing it one step at a time.
