For some people online-only banking might seem too new to trust but Axos has actually been around since 2000, and can be counted among some of the first online banks to be widely known. Axos business Interest checking accounts are free and have a 5k daily average balance, which is often more than enough for the needs of a smaller business. They only allow up to 50 free transactions each month, which medium to larger businesses can easily exceed, but for those on the smaller side it should be a good fit. As a small business owner myself there are a few reasons I always recommend that others explore their options at their local Credit Union! Because they are non-profit typically they offer lower fees and better interest rates than a standard bank will offer to you. Who doesn't like lower fees and better rates right?! They are also typically locally owned and operated which means way better service and personalized attention for you. This flexibility can really come in handy as you build relationships in the bank and need someone there to help you! These great relationships extend beyond the bank two! Some of our greatest connections have come through the relationships developed at the bank with other locals! Collaborations, investors, clients, and maybe even your best friend can come from other relationships at the Credit Union!
Since I am from the UK and my company was founded here, I feel most comfortable having my financial needs met by HSBC. When it comes to UK banks, HSBC is among the top choices for local enterprises. The bank provides a variety of services tailored to businesses, including business current accounts and a business financing service. Also, they provide expert financial guidance for businesses of all sizes, from those just starting out to those that have been around for a while. Barclays, Santander, and Lloyds Bank are three additional financial institutions that could be considered.
I consider to be the best bank for small businesses and has been for a good few years now. You get the standard perks for opening your account such as a cash bonus, easy to waive monthly fees and a few bits and pieces around their QuickAccept card acceptance via the Chase app but what makes it stand out for me is that they get seemingly everything right for small businesses. You can manage debit, deposit and ATM settings for individual employees, do pretty much everything through their app, integrate your account with QuickBooks, super cheap checks, the full suite of Chase Merchant Services and live customer support online or in branch. I'd consider it the gold standard - sure, some banks do some things better but no bank does all of these things to this standard.

Chase Bank is one of the largest banks in the United States, and it offers a suite of products and services tailored for small business owners. It offers checking accounts with no minimum balance requirements, low monthly fees, access to over 16,000 ATMs, free online banking and bill pay services, merchant services, credit cards that offer cash back rewards, and small business loans with competitive rates. Chase Bank also offers 24/7 customer support and a dedicated team of small business specialists who can help you make the most of your financial needs.
There is a reason that Chase has been the gold standard for small business banking for the better part of the last decade. There are other banks out there that do certain things better than Chase but for my money, they're the ones that offer the most comprehensive and pain free service to small businesses before they really hit it big and need to adjust to something more specialized. In particular, I am a big fan of the fact that they can make everything very personalized employee to employee and the fact that they've got a very easy QuickBooks integration that just works without needing half a dozen different adjustments to the way you do your accounting.
