My wife and I are both therapists and own Just Mind Counseling in Austin, TX with 50 therapists. She is a board member at The Institute of Violence, Abuse, and Trauma. I am part of Texas Association of Business's Healthcare Committee and a member of Texas Coalition of Healthy Minds working to create better mental health care for all Texans. The reason mental health is a personal passion to me as I was always the person my friends went to when in need. Several friends were sexually assaulted as kids and I was the person they went to for support. Looking back, I can see how those traumas affected their life trajectories based on the support they received - or not. So, it’s a personal mission to try and help others with the best evidence based care. At the end of the day we are talking about the quality people’s lives. This affects their economic stability and physical health. So, it’s important that we work hard to improve outcomes.
Our mental health is connected to everything in our lives - our ability to respond to stress, sense of self, relationships, career, even physical health and sleep. By taking care of our mental health we can see ripple effects in every area of our lives. It’s an incredible part of who we are that’s often neglected - but can thrive if we give it out attention at any stage of life.
Mental health influences a lot of our daily lives. It shapes our perceptions of relationships, how we perceive ourselves, and how we perceive the world at large. While the dangers of untreated mental health are getting a lot of recognition worldwide, I feel like we are still not doing enough to unpack why each person suffers and how to mitigate these instances. We try to educate and spread awareness, but most people with mental illness are afraid of the stigma attached to having one and choose to go untreated and hurt themselves even more than they already are. Mental health can lead to physical illness, substance use and other methods of self-harm. It is important that people know that it okay to get help, and by getting this help you will change how you perceive everything for the better and you will be able to lead a far more fulfilling life.
As an IWC CEO and Co-Founder, I care about mental health for many reasons. First off, I think mental wellness is equally vital to physical health. We must take care of our minds by controlling stress, getting adequate sleep, and receiving professional help when necessary, just as we take care of our bodies by eating well and exercising. Second, I think that a successful workplace depends on mental wellness. Employees that are in good mental health are more engaged, productive, and innovative. Additionally, they are less likely to take sick days and are more likely to stick with their companies. Third, I think it's important for all of us to confront the growing problem of mental health. According to estimates from the World Health Organization, one in four people will at some point in their lives deal with a mental health issue. Furthermore, getting the necessary assistance can be challenging for some due to the stigma associated with mental health.
I'm passionate about mental health because it's the core of how we experience life. My work in psychology and coaching has shown how our mental well-being shapes everything around us: from our relationships, career, choices, to our happiness. For example, working with people to help them unlock their true potential by teaching them how to effectively manage their emotions and thoughts is incredibly rewarding. Mental health is more than just overcoming one's challenges; it's about building a long-lasting, balanced, and fulfilling life.
For most of human existence, we have been ignorant about the importance of psychological health and now I get to be a part of bringing awareness to an essential part of our lives. Neglecting our mental health may harm our productivity, relationships, personal happiness, future resilience, and future resilience. Personally, the most important reason I'm passionate about mental health is because I've experienced clients who start therapy feeling hopeless and leave feeling optimistic with an overall improved quality of life. I am Dr. Nick Bach, (Psy.D. - Doctorate of Psychology). As a Psychologist, I have been trained to help people solve those problems to have a better quality of life. I am a licensed clinical psychologist who has received both my Master of Arts in Psychology (M.A.) and Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D.) degrees from Spalding University in Louisville, KY. As a psychiatrist, my passion for mental health stems from witnessing the transformative power of healing and restoring the well-being of individuals. It is a privilege to be a part of their journey, empowering them to reclaim their lives, find meaning, and cultivate resilience. I firmly believe that mental health is not merely the absence of illness but the cornerstone for a truly fulfilling and meaningful life. Through advocacy, destigmatization, and promoting awareness, I strive to ensure that individuals receive the compassionate care they deserve. Together, we can create a world where mental health is prioritized, understood, and seamlessly integrated into the fabric of our society.

My passion for mental health stems from witnessing its profound impact on individuals. Mental well-being isn't just about clinical diagnoses; it's intricately tied to our overall quality of life. When individuals experience optimal mental health, they're better equipped to fully engage in various aspects of life, be it relationships, work, or personal development. Observing individuals' resilience and growth through support and understanding is incredibly rewarding. Additionally, the prevalent societal stigma and misunderstandings surrounding mental health inspire me to advocate for increased awareness, acceptance, and accessible resources. Ultimately, being a part of someone's journey toward mental wellness is an honor, and witnessing their restoration of joy and purpose propels my passion for this field.
I worked in Aged Care and saw the loneliness and social isolation first hand. It broke my heart. I then did 4 years of research into this issue and found that everyone was treating the symptoms and not the cause. Loneliness in many cases is a precursor to mental illness so we should be addressing the root cause which is fundamentally a lack of real human connection. We're fishing people out of the river and not building a bridge. So I've made a podcast to give people the skills and assurance to make new connections at www.connectionislove.com
I'm passionate about mental health because I believe in leveraging innovation and technology to transform mental health services. Technology has the power to make mental health support more accessible, efficient, and personalized. For example, teletherapy platforms provide convenient access to therapy sessions, breaking down barriers like geographical distance. Mobile applications offer tools for self-care, mindfulness, and tracking mental well-being. Virtual reality (VR) therapy is emerging as a promising approach for treating phobias, PTSD, and anxiety disorders. By embracing technology, we can reach more people in need, improve the quality of care, and reduce the stigma surrounding mental health.

This passion stems from both personal experience and the realization of how deeply it affects our overall wellbeing. I recall a time in my life when I was overwhelmed with work, juggling multiple responsibilities. The stress started to take a toll on me, both physically and emotionally. It was then that I realized how closely linked our mental and physical health are, and how one can significantly impact the other. This personal experience sparked my passion for mental health. I became committed to understanding it better and promoting its importance. I believe that mental health should be given as much attention as physical health because they are two sides of the same coin.
My passion for mental health stems from its profound impact on our well-being. I believe nurturing our mental health is crucial for leading a fulfilling and harmonious life. Mental health touches every individual in some capacity. I am committed to advocating for it, eradicating stigma, and encouraging the use of tools and techniques that enhance mental well-being.
It's because I truly believe that taking care of our minds and well-being is vital for living a fulfilling and happy life. By practicing self-care, we how up as the best versions of ourselves in all aspects of life. We become more present, compassionate, and resilient. It's not just about overcoming challenges; it's about celebrating our strengths and being present in our lives.
As a CEO in the education sector, I am fuelled by a love not just for teaching Japanese, but for the ever-evolving human minds I engage with daily - minds that are as diverse as they are intricate. Having walked through the tech world as a woman, I've seen the mental strains that come with navigating challenging environments. This has galvanized my commitment to bolster mental health, not just as an individual concern, but a collective objective. My passion stems from the belief that embracing mental health isn't just pivotal for personal growth, but forms the foundation for nurturing a balanced, productive work culture.
I am passionate about mental health because I believe in promoting personal growth and wellness. It's not just about addressing mental illness but also empowering individuals to thrive in all aspects of their lives. By prioritizing mental health, individuals can discover their strengths, set and achieve goals, and lead fulfilling lives. For example, I've worked with clients who were struggling with anxiety and low self-esteem. Through therapy, we focused on building resilience, developing coping mechanisms, and enhancing their overall well-being. Witnessing their personal growth and transformation has been incredibly rewarding. I am committed to spreading awareness about the importance of mental health for personal growth and advocating for resources that support wellness.
Mental health is something that entrepreneurs and executives think about a lot. We've heard it from every direction - how do you maintain your work life balance? How do you stay mentally healthy? How do you disconnect? I don't think anyone has really found a definite answer, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't keep trying to figure it out. I love my career, but even I have days where I struggle with keeping everything balanced and living a proper life. Understanding mental health best practices and just thinking about it in general can make this process easier.
Reflecting on my own experiences, I hold a profound passion for mental health, recognizing its substantial impact on overall well-being. In my role as an advocate, I prioritize mental health awareness and support to diminish stigma, increase access to resources, and foster a compassionate understanding of mental health challenges. From my personal journey, I've developed this commitment through encounters with similar situations, driven by empathy and a desire to enhance the quality of life for individuals dealing with mental health issues. In my role as someone deeply involved in mental health advocacy, this personalized approach stems from my expertise, knowledge, and a heartfelt dedication to making a positive impact in this crucial domain.
In my perspective, the passion for mental health advocacy is deeply personal, driven by its profound influence on the overall well-being of individuals and communities. Having encountered similar situations before, I am motivated to advocate for mental health to diminish stigma, raise awareness, and ensure that individuals facing mental health challenges receive the support and understanding they deserve. From my personal journey, I've recognized the importance of fostering a more compassionate and inclusive society that acknowledges mental well-being alongside physical health. Reflecting on my own experiences, the overarching goal is to contribute to a cultural shift that prioritizes mental health and creates a supportive environment for everyone.
I am passionate about mental health because I recognize the importance of understanding and addressing mental health within different cultural contexts. Each culture has unique beliefs, values, and societal norms that shape individuals' perceptions and experiences of mental health. By promoting culturally sensitive approaches to mental health care, we can ensure that all individuals, regardless of their cultural background, receive appropriate support. For example, in some cultures, seeking professional help for mental health issues may be stigmatized. By understanding these nuances, we can work towards breaking down these barriers and providing accessible and effective mental health care for everyone.
Being an entrepreneur is a very stressful job. Until you get your feet under you and start growing, you're not sure if you're just wasting your time, money and energy. This, as you might imagine, can lead to some dark times and understanding how to deal with them from a mental health perspective is vitally important for anyone in a position similar to my own. It falls to us to understand ourselves, what makes us tick and how to care for our minds as well as we care for our bodies - something that greatly appeals to me, as it makes more sense than a more nebulous concept of mental health.
