Santa gave me my first camera in 1962, when I was six. I've been in love with image-making ever since. Along the way, I began teaching photography to kids as young as 9 and seniors as much as 80+ years old. My first full-time job was as a freelance writer and photographer. What fuels such passion for a "hobby?" Because it is not; photography provides a way of seeing the world and a voice. Everyone wants a voice, wants to be heard, wants to be understood. Photography provides that. In a world of busy-ness and distraction, photography provides a way to limit our view to what is important in the moment (focal length), and a chance to focus (literally and figuratively) on things that inspire us. Photography has been part of my life and every career path throughout the decades. It has been vocation and is always avocation. I love to create images because I love seeing the world and seeing life through a lens; and, I love teaching others how to do the same.
I've loved photography ever since I used my first camera. The ability to capture a moment and share it is what keeps me coming back to photography. My passion for it also encourages me to get out more, explore our beautiful landscapes, and embark on new adventures. Sharing my unique perspective, creativity, and travel experiences are all key reasons that fuel my passion for photography.
I am incredibly passionate about people photography because it captures the most important aspect of our lives: connection and relationships. Through the lens, a camera can immortalise feelings, transforming emotions into tangible memories. This genre of photography holds immense value, as it allows individuals to relive moments of love and connection, especially after a loved one has passed away. By freezing these intimate and heartfelt interactions photography is a real gift.
Living in Hawaii, surrounded by its breathtaking landscapes and vibrant culture, has profoundly shaped my passion for photography and videography. As a realtor, I’ve found that these artistic outlets not only enrich my personal life but also seamlessly integrate into my professional work, creating a unique blend of art and business that fuels my creativity daily. Photography and videography allow me to capture the essence of Hawaii's beauty, from the dramatic coastlines and lush rainforests to the vibrant sunsets and rich cultural traditions. Each shot is an opportunity to freeze a moment in time, to tell a story, and to share the unique spirit of the islands with others. The visual storytelling aspect is incredibly fulfilling, providing a creative outlet that balances the structured demands of real estate. In my role as a realtor, high-quality images and videos are crucial. They help potential buyers visualize their future homes and connect emotionally with properties. But beyond the functional aspect, photography and videography enable me to present each property in its best light, highlighting not just the physical space but the lifestyle it offers. Living in Hawaii, I can infuse my work with the natural beauty and cultural richness of the islands, creating marketing materials that are not only effective but also artistically inspiring. One of the most rewarding aspects of combining my passion with my profession is the ability to bring a personal touch to my listings. I often spend time capturing the unique features of a home, the way the morning light filters through the windows, or the serenity of a secluded garden. These artistic details help convey the true character of a property, making each listing stand out in a competitive market. Videography allows me to create immersive virtual tours, offering prospective buyers a dynamic and engaging way to explore homes from afar. This has become especially important in recent times, as many clients prefer to view properties remotely. By creating high-quality, artistic videos, I can provide a sense of presence and connection, helping clients feel as if they are walking through the home themselves. Living in Hawaii provides endless inspiration. Whether it's capturing the vibrant colors of a sunset over the ocean, the intricate details of a traditional hula dance, or the serene beauty of a hidden waterfall, every day offers new opportunities to explore and express my artistic vision.
Photography captures moments that tell a story, freeze time, and evoke emotions. The thrill of finding unique perspectives and the challenge of conveying a message through images drive my passion. It’s a blend of creativity and technical skill, allowing endless learning and experimentation. Seeing the world through a lens fosters a deeper appreciation for beauty and diversity, making photography a fulfilling and expressive art form.
