I had a long career in marketing before I decided to plunge into the world of wine at 54. The inspiration came from a wine-tasting trip to Napa Valley. The passion and knowledge the local sommeliers had for their craft was absolutely infectious. It was a turning point for me, realizing wine was more than a drink—it was stories, history, and culture in a glass. The shift wasn't easy; wine is a vast field and stepping in later in life meant I had a lot to catch up on. Initially, I struggled with the younger folks who seemed to just breeze through the certifications. But, pushing through those challenges was incredibly rewarding. Now, as a certified sommelier, my outlook on life has broadened. I see every chance for change as a new adventure, a chance to add another exciting chapter to my life.
