To celebrate the successful sale of my company, I plan to allocate 1% of my earnings towards something that truly embodies this momentous occasion: a high-end steak dinner. Premium steaks are the epitome of a luxurious and enjoyable dining experience. By indulging in this culinary experience with a select few close friends and family members, we will be able to properly mark the completion of this milestone. Furthermore, knowing that I have money coming in from the sale allows me to invest in something special for those who have shared and supported me throughout this journey.
Working with my adult children to develop our company has taken the majority of our time together. If we sold the company and had to spend $10,000 doing something fun, I would schedule a vacation with my children. Where we went wouldn’t matter. The important thing would be to just spend quality time and have fun without worrying about business or what needs to be done next. I see my children working so hard to make our company successful, so pulling them away and forcing them to relax and have fun would be amazing. I would like to see them play as hard as they work.
Right away, I can think of one fantastic way to direct that 1% towards something truly fun for everyone who made this all possible: A trip to Italy for our employees, and their family members! Normally, such a trip would be too costly for them to plan and take on their own, but what better way to celebrate our collective success together than pay their way? Our employees are our greatest resource, and it is unlikely we could have gotten ourselves into a position to sell without their hard work. A trip to Italy is the least I could do to repay them!
“What are you going to do now that you’ve won the Super Bowl?” There is only one correct answer - go to Disney World! And if I sold my business and had to spend 1% on something fun, that something would be a trip to Disney World. I would take my friends and we would relive our childhood dreams. We would visit all 4 parks, riding all the rides and having pictures made with Mickey, Minnie, Pooh and Tigger. This would create the memory of a lifetime. The only work I would be doing is deciding where to eat and what to buy. There would be time to plan what’s going to happen next after the trip of a lifetime.
The first thing I would do with the 1% is book myself a fabulous vacation. I would travel to Italy and spend time at Lake Como in Bellagio. There would be no better way to celebrate the sale than lying next to the gorgeous waters surrounded by majestic mountains. I would explore the Italian countryside by bike and learn to cook amazing Italian foods. Just spending my time shopping and visiting with the locals would restore and refresh both my mind and body. Finally, I would begin planning my next move as my fabulous vacation began to wind down.
I know exactly what I'm doing! I'm renting a bus, packing it full with all of my amazing employees, current and past, and we are going on an entirely spontaneous journey across the United States. I truly believe this is and will be a once-in-a-lifetime experience and as I reflect upon all we've accomplished, it only makes me more excited. I can't wait to hit the road!
Who doesn't love a good boat party? What better way to celebrate the sale of your company. Rent a yacht, invite all your employees and throw an epic party on the water with the people that helped you get to this point. Open bar, no rules, just fun. This is how I would spend the 1% on something fun.
I have always loved the idea of being able to take children on a shopping spree. To be able to take a child into a toy store and allow them to pick whatever they want would be so much fun. So I would take the 1% and use it to provide a dream trip to FAO Schwartz for foster children. What would be more fun than watching the children’s faces light up as they walked through the most famous toy store in the world to pick out their gift. The only hard part would be not being able to provide this experience to every kid. But, I would love every minute of the experience.
The Mediterranean is the perfect place to celebrate! With its crystal-clear waters, stunning beaches, and centuries of history, there's no better place to take a break and celebrate your success. Rent a luxury yacht with a crew and explore the Mediterranean Sea, stopping at famous ports along the way. Relax in the sun as you sip champagne and marvel at your incredible accomplishment. From Turkey to Spain, the Mediterranean is a playground of exploration and relaxation. Make yourself a promise to enjoy this reward you deserve, and don't forget to take lots of pictures.
To celebrate the sale of my company, I am spending 1% of the profits on a family vacation. My family and I will travel to many European countries to make wonderful memories together, including Italy, France, Sweden, and Iceland. We plan to enjoy sightseeing, exploring local culture, and indulging in great cuisine. This vacation is an excellent way to enjoy the fruits of my hard work and spend quality time with my loved ones. Ultimately, it will be a fantastic way to mark the success of this major milestone in our lives.

What's a better way of showing your appreciation for your organization that funding a fun company outing. Maybe you rent out a space like a challenge course or a bar. These outings not only will be memorable experiences that will enhance your company culture, but it will also give your team a chance to recharge and reengage with each other and the company. These types of things are invaluable so keep this in mind when you have a little extra cash to spend.
I would spend the 1% on a luxurious vacation to a tropical destination. I would use the money to book a five-star hotel, rent a private villa, and hire a personal chef to make amazing food for me and my family. I would also use the money to pay for exciting activities like snorkeling, sailing, and zip-lining. Lastly, I would use the money to treat my family and friends to special dinners and outings.

Catch me on a cruise ship exploring the world! You really can’t put a price tag on new experiences, and the best way to set oneself up for experiencing new things is to travel. What I love most about traveling is that I never know who or what I’m going to encounter. For that reason, I can’t think of anything else I’d rather spend an influx of money on.
You want to turn your house into a great hosting place? Construct a bar somewhere. The basement is perfect for it. Remember that Family Guy episode in which Peter turned his basement into a neighborhood bar (which his wife turned into her own personal singing lounge)? That could be turned into a reality with an extra $10,000 in your pocket. You’ll have some time to entertain guests after selling your company. You’ll be the neighbor that your friends will want to visit the most, whether it’s to watch the Super Bowl or watch the finale of one of your favorite shows. If you could convert an entire room or space in your house into a bar/lounge, you would have what so many people wish they could have. You’d be living the dream.

"Doing something fun" provides one with a broad choice of options. Going on a vacation to a tropical island is an ideal choice for me. Taking a break from corporate activities after selling my company would be good for my well-being. This undertaking gives me a chance to strategize on my next move in a quiet and serene environment. The vacation also allowed me to digest and scrutinize whether selling my company was a wise decision.
To conduct celebration dinner with 1% of the $1M is one idea that I think everyone in the company can get behind it. To do some celebration, we have to think of what everyone would enjoy, and who does not love food? In particular, a free food paid by the company. Again, the choice of place and dinner style depends on the number of people in the company. If it is less than 20, it will be very easy to budget for everyone but if it is more than 100 it might be a bit of a stretch but very possible to do. We can always hire catering company or private chefs to cater for the dinner party with the menu selections, beverage pairing and maybe prepare a celebration cake for everyone. The venue is also depends on how many people will attend, but in general we can either rent an established restaurant who also caters for party or a hall.
If you want to spend your money on something fun, make sure the fun is spread across everyone who helped make the sale of your company possible. Host a big bash for your employees. Rent out a space, whether it’s at a convention hall, a banquet hall, a swanky bar or anything that would fit all employees, their dates and other invited guests. Make sure you take a moment to grab a mic and give a heartfelt thanks to everyone who contributed to make the dream possible. Make sure there is live music or a disc jockey. Make sure there are drinks and food available – and make sure the food is prepared by the best. I’ve learned that you should always show thanks to those who helped you in your achievements. If you have the financial means to thank them in a big way, you should do so.
If my company sells for $1M and I need to spend 1% on something fun, we're buying the WaveShark Foil 2 Explorer ELECTRIC SURFBOARD for $8890.04 and we're spending the rest of the money on a nice lunch for the team. My company will be located near body of water, so there will be no need to cover the travel expenses, and we will spend an entire workday taking turns having the time of lives! For more information, please visit my guide on the Best Electric Surfboards of 2023. I hope this helps! Best, Nick Varga nick@eridejournal.com
One well-received Super Bowl commercial was capped off with the spokesman saying to the camera before walking on a beach, “Do you think any of us will look back on our lives and regret the things we didn’t buy – or the places we didn’t go?” That message resonated with me. Fancy items are nice – vintage bottles of wine, a German sports car, a multi-layered gas grill, a large backyard swimming pool. But what conjures the greatest feelings and gives you the greatest memories are where you’ve been. So that $10,000 should be used to cover an exotic trip. Head to the Orient. Go look at volcanoes in Iceland. Go hiking in Alaska. Or drink wine at the foot of Mount Vesuvius. That’s what I would do with my “something fun” money.
I'm a serial entrepreneur in the somewhat unique position where my husband is my business partner. This makes it something of a no-brainer that the sale of any company would mean taking a great and well deserved trip with the family to celebrate and recharge the batteries before we dive into our next venture.
