I don’t remember life before construction and design. My grandfather was a master carpenter, and as a kid I spent countless hours with him in his woodshop, absorbing the art of custom craftsmanship and the value of hard work. When I wasn’t Granddad’s shadow, I was helping my parents restore historic brownstone homes. Those hands-on experiences shaped my passion for design, problem-solving and the art of building functional spaces. That foundation led me on a journey from small-town New England through New York City and Philadelphia to ultimately landing in Los Angeles. Along the way, I honed my construction skills, refined my design sensibilities and developed a deep understanding of how people interact with the built environment. I met a brilliant architect named Lauren Adams and we collaborated on multiple projects. In 2010, we noticed a gap that bothered both of us: there just weren’t many firms offering a true turnkey design-build service. Homeowners and business owners had to juggle architects, interior designers, contractors and engineers, leading to frustrating delays, budget overruns and disjointed projects. We knew there was a better and simpler way, and so Letter Four was born.
