I've been working as a full-stack developer for more than 13 years, building digital products. My main focus has always been user interfaces. Recently, I shifted my path toward writing about UI/UX. I’ve authored two books and I’m now working on a UI/UX course while also running a newsletter. I’m a User Experience (UX) designer with ten years of experience across graphic design, branding and web design in agencies and for myself. I love solving problems in creative ways and making both the digital and physical world easier for people to use. A big turning point for me was spontaneously joining the Young Women in AI Startup Weekend 2018 as a Graphic + UX designer. Our team won first place, which really showed me what I enjoy about this field. UX isn’t (just) about creating beautiful screens. It’s about uncovering a meaningful problem worth solving, understanding the people who experience that problem and creating a solution that actually helps them while making the experience easy and pleasant to use. UX has also given me an experimental mindset. Perfecting things in private and fearing failure has to go out the window. Creating becomes trying ideas quickly, seeing what works and what doesn’t and staying close to the people you’re creating for. As a child, I enjoyed the tv ads between cartoons. The billboards fascinated me when I was in a back-seat car waiting for the green light. While studying, I was involved in programming, but quickly became bored of numbers and variables which I think are too uniform for my artistic brain.
