Everyone wants "AI transformation"... but won't pay for top-tier data scientists. They outsource to fresh new consultancies that install chatbots and call it innovation. (They also ignore the hardest part: culture! No amount of shiny GPT wrappers will fix an org allergic to experimentation).
A big reason is that most companies already have systems and workflows that "work", even if they're slow or outdated. Switching to AI often means breaking those systems and rebuilding from scratch, which can disrupt the entire work process. The learning curve is another problem. There are too many tools, too much hype, and not enough clear use cases. People get overwhelmed and freeze. Also, look at tech companies still using older programming languages, it's not because they don't know better. It's because their entire products are built on it, and replacing everything is a huge risk. We are facing something similar with the AI. It's easier to keep using what you know than to gamble on something new. We've learned to start small, test one tool, one process and go from there.

We've been a technology-driven agency, and our biggest barrier to adopting a new technology has been a problem of plenty. For instance, if we'd like to bring cold email automation to our processes, the variety of options and features can make this decision overwhelming. Missing Skills and Resources AI isn't a "plug-and-play" solution. Organizations typically fail to recognize the depth of technical abilities required to develop and implement and sustain AI systems. The organization faces challenges because it lacks suitable combinations of data engineers with analysts and domain experts along with funding for hiring or training new staff. Sustainable scaled solutions become difficult to achieve when organizations do not invest in developing their capabilities beyond pilot projects.
