Setting goals, whether professional or personal, is critical. Goals are similar to plans in that they help us break things down into manageable chunks. Too frequently, we focus on the finished product rather than the small efforts that led us there. Allow yourself to enjoy the satisfaction of finishing all of these activities; you'll be astonished at how accomplished and driven you feel.
One thing I wish I had known before starting my first professional role is that things are not always as they seem. There is a lot of politics and backstabbing that goes on in most workplaces, and it can be really difficult to navigate. It's important to be careful who you trust and to always keep your guard up.
