Board certified general adult and sports Psychiatrist and owner of a virtual mental health company at shrinkMD
I am a Board Certified Psychiatrist, Duke MBA graduate, and founder of shrinkMD, a national virtual mental health platform dedicated to providing accessible, high quality psychiatric care to adults. With over a decade of clinical experience, I’ve treated individuals from all walks of life ranging from high performing executives and elite athletes to students and underserved populations. My approach blends deep clinical insight with the strategic thinking of a healthcare entrepreneur, giving me a unique lens into the future of mental health care. My background in sports psychiatry includes consulting roles with professional organizations like the NFL and Jacksonville Jaguars, where I’ve supported athletes in navigating performance pressure, identity challenges, and psychological recovery from injury. These experiences have sharpened my focus on mental resilience, optimization, and the intricate connection between mind and body. I'm widely recognized for my work in urgent care psychiatry, helping patients find rapid, effective relief from acute mental health challenges without the long wait times that plague traditional systems. At shrinkMD, I lead a care model rooted in the biopsychosocial and spiritual framework, ensuring that every individual is treated as more than a diagnosis honoring their unique history, strengths, and personal bandwidth. Beyond clinical care, I’m deeply committed to addressing the systemic barriers that keep people from accessing mental health services whether that’s a lack of providers, financial constraints, stigma, or outdated delivery models. My work sits at the intersection of mental health innovation, digital health, and patient centered care, and I’m passionate about changing the narrative around what psychiatric support can look like in today’s world. I am a trusted voice on a range of topics, including telepsychiatry, burnout, workplace mental health, healthcare equity, emotional wellness, performance psychology, and the future of virtual care. I provide clear, concise, and thought provoking commentary that connects clinical science with real life relevance whether it's for national media, healthcare publications, or expert panels. If you're seeking an authoritative, articulate, and forward thinking mental health expert, I’m available to provide expert insight, commentary, and collaborative thought leadership.

Board Certified Psychiatric Mental Health at JAMAICA HOSPITAL 10/23/24- PRESENT PSY CHIATRIC MENTAL HEALTH
Board Certified PMHNP & Mental Health Expert: Bridging Psychiatry, Psychology, and Real-Life Dynamics (Relationships, ADHD, Crisis Care). With over 14 years of clinical experience, I bring a rare dual perspective to mental health coverage: the diagnostic precision of a medical professional combined with the empathetic, human-centric approach of a psychologist. My practice is not just about treating symptoms; it is about decoding the human behaviors behind them. Covering the full lifespan—from 5-year-olds to geriatric patients—I am able to speak authoritatively on family dynamics at every stage of life. CORE EXPERTISE FOR MEDIA: 1. Interpersonal Relationships & Couples Dynamics: My work focuses on the psychology of connection. I provide insights on conflict resolution, "mixed-neurotype" couples (e.g., ADHD partners), and navigating modern family stressors. The goal is to explain why people fight, rather than simply medicating the anxiety it causes. 2. ADHD & Neurodivergence (Lived Experience): My perspective on neurodivergence is grounded in deep personal reality, not just clinical theory. As the sole legal guardian and caretaker of a blind uncle with profound autism, I understand caretaking and sensory processing from the inside out. This allows me to discuss how executive dysfunction truly affects careers, marriages, and self-esteem. 3. The "Human Approach" to Mental Health: Building rapport with anyone—from non-verbal patients to high-functioning executives—is the cornerstone of my method. I can discuss the art of overcoming resistance to therapy and de-stigmatizing mental health in conservative cultures. 4. Clinical Authority: Frontline Experience: Currently serving on staff at Jamaica Hospital Medical Center (Psychiatric ER & Inpatient), dealing with acute crisis stabilization. Industry Thought Leadership: Selected by a major pharmaceutical company to consult on a breakthrough treatment for Postpartum Depression. Multicultural Perspective: Fluent in English, Russian, and Farsi, offering unique insights into immigrant mental health.

Consultant Psychologist - Allo Health at Allo Health
I am a Mental Health Practitioner and Consultant Psychologist dedicated to providing care with compassion, respect, and empathy. I hold an M.Sc. in Clinical Psychology with distinction from JAIN (Deemed to be University) and have gained meaningful clinical experience across hospitals, psychological well-being centres, and online therapy platforms. I currently work with Allo Health as a Consultant Psychologist, where I support individuals facing a wide range of emotional and psychological concerns. When life starts to feel overwhelming, when thoughts feel difficult to manage, or when familiar patterns keep repeating, it can be confusing and exhausting. Many people wonder whether what they are experiencing is normal or struggle to understand why they feel stuck. In therapy, I offer a safe and non-judgmental space where these experiences can be explored at a comfortable pace. Together, we slow things down and gently understand what lies beneath anxiety, stress, emotional overwhelm, or relationship difficulties. My therapeutic approach is based on the belief that people heal best when they feel truly understood and supported, not through quick techniques alone. Our sessions focus on building emotional balance, increasing self-awareness, and addressing root causes rather than only managing symptoms. My aim is to help clients feel more confident in their choices, more secure in their relationships, and better equipped to handle everyday challenges. I have previously worked as an Assistant Psychologist at Inspiron Psychological Well-Being Centre from January 2024 to January 2025, which strengthened my clinical insight and practical experience. Outside of therapy, I recharge by reading, watching films, and playing video games, simple activities that help me stay grounded and present for my clients. My goal is for each client to leave therapy feeling lighter, more centred, and able to trust their instincts as they move forward.

Psychiatrist at in Private Practice
I’m a serious yet lighthearted board-certified psychiatrist in private practice for the past 30 years. I’m also a career-long educator/supervisor for psychiatry residents and other mental health professionals. I do public outreach as well. My blog about psychiatry and psychotherapy began in 2008. I launched a YouTube channel on "psychotherapy and psychologically-informed psychiatry" in spring 2024, and continue to post a video every two weeks. My office practice is mainly psychodynamic psychotherapy. I aim to be down to earth and non-mysterious about it — more like a conversation, less like a "blank slate." Naturally, I include other approaches when appropriate, including psychiatric medication. But my main interest is psychotherapy: both in my practice, and in public discussions of how "therapy" has been reduced in the public's mind to "tips, tools, and strategies," not its original higher aim of insight about oneself. In the distant past I published psychotherapy research; you can look me up on PubMed or ResearchGate. I served as medical director of a mental health clinic for 10 years, chaired the Continuing Medical Education (CME) Committee of a major medical center for over a decade, and served on their Ethics Committee. I’ve been a psychiatric consultant to the State Bar of California, and an expert witness once or twice. I present “grand rounds” lectures to hospital departments, and I welcome opportunities to be a public speaker. Aside from clinical interests, I’m a lifelong techie. I've discussed the role, good and bad, of AI in mental health. And I hold a 2nd degree black belt in Aikido, a uniquely pacifist martial art. I'm slowly writing a book, kind of a memoir, on the parallels between depth psychotherapy and Aikido. Thanks for reading.
