Media mentions and link gap
Two questions Featured answers about coverage that already exists: who wrote about you, and who's writing about your competitors instead.
Has it gone live yet?
Ask about a specific press release or article by name and Featured checks what your workspace already has on file before paying to go looking. You get one of four answers:
| Answer | What it means |
|---|---|
| Live | It's in your ledger, with the date it went live and a link. |
| Pending | A workflow already found it and it's waiting for your approval. |
| Turned down | It was found, and somebody on your team rejected it. Not the same as never found. |
| Not on file | Nothing yet — Featured offers to search the live web next. |
This needs a workspace, since the ledger belongs to your organisation.
Coverage
Finding new coverage
Featured searches the web and Moz’s backlink index for coverage of a brand, person, product, or domain. Each result carries the outlet, its domain authority, a category, and a read of how the piece actually covers you — not just that your name appears.
You can narrow it by minimum domain authority, language, and how far back to look. Anything already in your ledger is excluded, so a repeat search shows what’s genuinely new.
It finds editorial coverage specifically. Social posts, job listings, and store pages are filtered out however squarely they name you.
Everything found is filed to your ledger as pending, for review on the Media Mentions page. Approving and rejecting happens there, not in chat.
You can also point this at a competitor — “who’s covering Prowly” — and the finds are filed tagged as competitor watch.
Link gap
Where your competitors get links and you don't
Ask for the sites linking to a rival but not to you and Featured runs a link gap: up to ten competitors at once, returning pages that link to at least one of them and not to you, with domain authority and a read of how that competitor is covered.
This runs in two steps. Featured resolves your brand and each competitor to a domain, shows you what it resolved, and waits for you to confirm.
Asking only “who links to my competitor?” isn’t a link gap — that’s a complete question with a complete answer, and Featured just answers it.

- Searching for coverage and running a link gap: You can run this once a day without an account. Nothing is saved to your workspace until you sign up. The daily limit is shared between the two, and a signed-in workspace has none.
