Opportunity search
Opportunity search
One question, searched across every kind of opportunity at once. Ask for "podcasts about fintech" and Featured searches podcasts. Ask "what coverage could I get for my fintech startup?" and it searches everything, then ranks the results together.
How it works
One ask, searched everywhere
Featured runs your request across every relevant opportunity type in parallel, re-ranks the combined results for relevance, filters out spam, and removes anything it has already shown you in this conversation. Signed-in users get up to 40 opportunity cards per search; visitors get up to 25. Asking for more runs another search that skips what you already saw. Social creator (Instagram, TikTok, YouTube) page size is unchanged. If that search also includes those creators, the list can be longer because those creator slots are added on top.
If you name a type, only that type is searched. If you don’t, Featured decides from what you asked for.
Vocabulary
Active and passive opportunities
Active opportunities are ones where a journalist is already asking for sources — there is a question on the table and a deadline to answer it. There is exactly one active type: journalist requests.
Everything else is passive. The podcast, publication, or event isn’t asking for you specifically; you reach out to them. Passive opportunities are where most coverage comes from, but active ones convert fastest because the demand already exists.
The ten opportunity types
| Type | Kind | What it is | Available in | Page |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Journalist requests | Active | A journalist posts a question looking for expert sources to quote. | Chat, MCP | Journalist requests |
| Guest articles | Passive | Publications that accept contributed articles, op-eds, and columns from outside writers. | Chat, MCP | Guest articles |
| Podcasts | Passive | Shows that interview guests. You pitch the host. | Chat, MCP | Podcasts |
| Journalists | Passive | Reporters who cover your beat. You pitch them as a source for a future story. | Chat, MCP | Journalists |
| LinkedIn influencers | Passive | Professionals with large followings in your niche, ranked by connection count. | Chat, MCP | LinkedIn influencers |
| Social creators | Passive | Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube creators in your niche. | Chat only | Social creators |
| Independent writers | Passive | Substack, Medium, Ghost, and Beehiiv publications and newsletters in your niche. | Chat (MCP coming soon) | Independent writers |
| Speaking events | Passive | Conferences and events with an open call for speakers. | Chat, MCP | Speaking events |
| Awards | Passive | Industry awards, rankings, and competitions you can enter or be nominated for. | Chat, MCP | Awards |
| Paid link placements | — | Sites that sell link insertions and paid guest posts. Not earned media, and never searched unless you ask. | Chat only | Paid links |
Paid link placements are deliberately excluded from general searches. Featured only looks for them when you explicitly ask to buy links or placements.
Filters
How Featured picks filters
You describe the outcome; Featured translates it. Two examples:
You say: “established fintech podcasts that are still active”
Featured searches: podcasts, topic fintech, minimum episode count set, maximum days since last episode set.
You say: “free-to-enter design awards closing before June”
Featured searches: awards, industry design, maximum entry cost 0, deadline before the first of June.
Each vertical page lists the filters that type supports, and a phrase that triggers each one.
Behaviour
Behaviour worth knowing
- No repeats in a conversation. Featured remembers what it has already shown you and excludes it from the next search. Start a new chat to reset.
- Topics, not formats. Featured separates what you want to talk about from what kind of opportunity you want. “Guest post about SEO” is the topic
SEOplus the guest-article type — so asking for “SEO” won’t accidentally exclude a perfectly good opportunity that never uses that phrase. - Exclusions. Say what you don’t want — “not crypto”, “nothing political” — and Featured pushes those results down or out.
- Domain authority. Journalist requests, guest articles, and paid placements can be filtered by Moz Domain Authority (0–100). Ask for “DA 50+” or “sites above 40”. Other types don’t carry a DA score.
- Spam filtering runs on results before you see them, whenever you searched with topical terms.
